Try replacing the actual switch. My 89 f150 used to do the same thing. (Although my wiper motor is probably getting weak now.)

You can still use the Mazda transmission. it is not as heavy duty as the zf5, but as long as you don't beat the snot out of the truck you will be ok.

Leave the o2 sensor alone. If you remove it, your mileage and power will plummet. Also you will most likely have driveability issues.

Fuel lines don't have to be extended. (at least not on a1989) You can reuse your ecm (it's not the "correct" one, but it would work.

Ok, that's odd. that thing downstream from the filter (closer to the rear) is definitely a fuel pump. every dual tank truck i have ever seen newer than 1989 didn't have the frame mounted pump.

1987 to 1989 might work also, but I'm not sure...
