Maybe some of the Clearbra material by 3M. I've seen people use it on the door sill plate to keep it from getting scuffed and worn down. Is essentially invisible, so it looks like bare paint.

Found a NOS slider for a 73 Chevy on Craigslist. I've tried searching on here and google to find the dimensions for the rear window opening. Found the dimensions for Fords, but no luck finding any...
