Yep, works great! :-X22

It may not look like it in the picture, but the wheelbase of the truck is pretty close to the same as our '90 Extended Cab Ford F250. With where the hitch is mounted, the...

'59 Ford C-600

I ran into an old ford cabover sitting in the weeds a few months ago and noticed it had nearly new front tires. I asked how much the owner wanted for the tires and he said $500 for the tires, $550...

The 390 block is smaller than the 5.4L.

I helped cram a 460 into a Fairmont... I would think this would be a bit easier.

Biggest difference being we used an engine/tranny/differential combo.

1999 F150 4wd: Fit a 390?

I have a '99 F150 4x4 with a blown 5.4L V8. I also have a good running 390 out of a '69 F150 Camper Special (may possibly be a 428). Unfortunately the '69 is 2wd so I won't be able to use the 4...

Through my reading on the F-150/V10 conversion, the pickups get better mileage with the V10 vs the 5.4L V8. Don't really know why, but that's what the people that have done the conversion are saying.

'99 F150 4x4, Froze 5.4L. Need New Motor. V10?

Long story short, my 5.4 lost oil pressure and the engine froze up. Cranking the starter turns the motor over maybe three-eights of an inch. Can't crank it over by hand (or with a long cheater bar). ...

Engines don't need backpressure. I thought that idea had been buried long ago...

The loss in torque when going to a larger diameter pipe has nothing to do with backpressure, it has to do with...

The RPM's aren't that high. Especially in OD. The shifts wouldn't be any harsher than in 4LO (with all 4 locked in) which isn't all that bad.

Actually the 99 came with both the 4R70W and the other "100" tranny. You have to check the transmission code on your door sticker to be sure.

1999 F150 4x4 5.4L V8 4-speed auto

180,500 miles and running great. Changing all fluids just for good measure after buying it with ~179k miles. Also changing the 90° EGR Elbow before it gives me...

This is what I was looking for. It's simply a DPDT switch.

Allows you to run Low Range 2WD. You do have to be careful, though, to not twist the rear axle. ;)

Isn't the 4wd engagement system separate from the HI/LO engagement? In other words, why not simply enable the LO engagement relay (or vacuum actuator or whatever it is) while not engaging the 4wd...

2WD/4HI/4LO... Why not 2LO??

I've got a '99 F150, 5.4L V8, 4wd, and 3.55 gears with HI/LO.

Is there a way to shift to the low side while still being in 2wd? I'd like to have both axles shift to 4LO but keep the clutches...
