I was going to say it looks like it might have a piece in the spring end and would snap in between something like a toilet paper roll holder. But I like avf100's take on it...

It isn't the same type of heater as yours, but I went with a re-core. It was a bit pricey at $180, but I've never seen my core re-popped. Mine is the simple box-type heater.

Buy a modern switch and add the old style knob.
