The short blocks will interchange just as long as both has the same pistons. The 3v has flat top pistons and I think the 2v does too just not 100% sure.

I would go ahead and pull a plug or 2 and see how they look. They tend to break less when the engine is hot. You dont want to keep driving it with it skipping

That's the rollers from the needle bearing in the cam follower and the large piece looks like a valve keeper. I don't see any bearing material so hopefully when you pull out the piston the bearings...
