Not sure how accessible the injectors are on the I6 but if you could connect a noid light to few watch it see if the injectors are being fired hit and miss style.

If so you see a unstable flash...

Idles to fast then too slow but no doesn't sound like can go by that, doesn't run for a long enough period of time to determine what its actual idle speed...

It will start right up run perfect for 3-5 sec and then it sputters and dies....
