Do a search on this site, there is a great deal of info. This affected mostly the 2004-5 5.4L trucks. Not cheap to fix. Had mine done under warranty @ 12K miles on my '04.

I would highly recommend Wagner Thermo Quiet...

I would highly recommend Wagner Thermo Quiet pads. Excellent brake feel compared to the originals, and almost no dust.

Could be something related to the 4x4 system (solenoid vacuum lines or IWE's). Next time you hear the noise, put it in 4high and back to determine if the noise changes.
