My problem is that my tires were old when I put them on, although still like new. I've skidded them a few times so they arnt perfectly round. And they are the old goodyear wranglers that wear out...

Yes that is correct. With 4.11 gears the final ratio in first gear would be roughly 9.9. Good ratio for tire frying and getting a load moving.
