I would doubt that Ford is going cover a diff cover on a truck that is 8 years old. But couldn't hurt to try I guess.

Napa has the whole assembly for about $225 if I remember correctly. If you have the $ you should get new, you won't want to go through all of this again in a few months when the used one snaps.

I bought an edge programmer and it improved throttle response quite a bit. It also helped other aspects ie: shifting, torque,and power. Not sure how much the gadget you are talking about costs, but...

That may be your issue....I know every repair says to disconnect the battery, but this one really means it. If I remember correctly the actuator centers itself and if it's not properly installed...
