Since it looks like our leader is dragging his feet, I'll start this one :-X10
Spent the weekend at my place on the river, had a lot of fun. Cooked steaks on the grill, think I have hooked another lady on my cooking :9 The high winds last night knocked down a dead tree, damage could have been worse.
Oh, and picked up my (new to me) Harley Fri, I think it's gonna be a blast

Old_Crow 10-04-2010 04:09 AM

Thanks for reminding me it's about time to start cutting wood. I need about 3 or 4 ricks to heat the shop this winter.
Nice lookin' bike, I love the flames, but I'm bettin' the new lady will absolutly hate that seat.
We got about 120 miles in on the bike yesterday. Up to Fifty-Six, then Hwy 341(Push Mtn Road) to Norfork and then 5 back to Mtn View. Stopped and ate at Don Quixote's in Calico Rock...great as always.
Got home and put the crank sensor on the Crown Vic(what idiot put that SOB under the a/c compressor?). Damned if the thing didn't start right up, run about 10 min and run out of gas right where it's sitting.

Oh, and Ash_Flat...that F500 we were talking about is between Calico Rock and the prison on Hwy 5. Still sitting there waiting on a new owner.

mechmagcn 10-04-2010 09:29 AM

Wally, the lady is not the only one who hates the seat, it's about as hard as a brick. Been looking on E-bay, didn't realize what a seat costs :-roll The front tire is in need of replacement and the speedo drive, but otherwise, I can find nothing wrong. According to KBB, I bought the bike for almost $2K below book value.

Is it October already?

Nice bike Jeff, now.. it's time to start looking for you one of those shirts...

Yeah Joe, that was my thought too.
Hey Wally, since we're talking seats and you're a bigger guy like me, what would you reccomend. I never thought that there would be so many choices out there :-X15:confused::confused::confused::confused:
A few more shots of the bike can be seen here. http://picasaweb.google.com/mechmagc...eat=directlink Never was much on flame jobs, but the chamelion effects sort of grow on you.

Old_Crow 10-04-2010 05:39 PM

Whatchu tryin' to say, Willis? :-X0A6
Personally, I'm a Mustang guy. I kinda like this for your bike:
Wide Touring Vintage Solo - Harley-Davidson Softail 75757 | Mustang Motorcycle Seats

They make it in a one piece and with studs and conchos if you like that kinda stuff(the one I have for my bike has both). There is also a narrower version, but...well, you know.

I didn't think I was gonna like the flames when we were talking about them, but now that I've seen the pics, I've got to say I like 'em a bunch and I bet the pics don't do them justice.

Oh, and Dunlop Elite 3's for the tires. Last longer and handle better than the stock Dunlop 402's the bike came with.

Hey I did say "like me" I ain't no little guy either.
Looking at E-bay, there's a Wide Super Touring One-Piece Studded Seat - Harley-Davidson Softail 75503 | Mustang Motorcycle Seats for $369.99 with free shipping. Think I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy it. Motorcycle lift should be here tomorrow, other parts from JP later this week, maybe a good ride this coming weekend:-D Oh and the flames, I didn't like em when I first looked at the bike, was dark and just a carport light, but in the sun they look great.

Old_Crow 10-05-2010 03:52 AM

If you're gonna buy tires online, I usually check 4 sites for prices as they can have sales at different times. Dennis Kirk, Jake Wilson, American Motorcycle Tire and Southwest Moto Tire.
For parts I usually use Jirehcycles.com and for a resource such as FTE this site is good:
HarleyTechTalk - Index

scottzj 10-05-2010 05:23 AM

Good morning FTE peps!
Have a great day! :)

ash_flat_diesel 10-05-2010 09:31 PM

Thanks Wally, I was all excited when I thought it was a crew cab, not terribly interested in it being a reg cab but I will get over there just to see it. Supposed to go to Jonathons this weekend to get my bed with the toolbox door in the right side. Detroit finally showed up last week, gotta get it cleaned up, replace some gaskets etc... Anybody know about Med duty trannys? It came with a Spicer cm 5052 4 cant find anywhere the specs, wonder if its direct drive in 5th? surely is

tojoski 10-06-2010 07:58 PM

Anybody else going to the air show this weekend?

We'll be there Saturday.

Old_Crow 10-07-2010 05:50 AM

Lynn and I were supposed to ride the bike down there with my bro in law Sat, but I've got to work at the restoration shop. Sunday we'll be doing last minute stuff for War Eagle the next weekend.
Supposed to be a good show this year.

zhilton 10-09-2010 02:10 PM

Yeah, it's October already...Thanksgiving will be here soon; followed by Christmas. Can't wait to battle the lines and idiots trying to fill Santa's list.

I talked to my dad about 1100 today and he said he was inline to find a parking spot at LRAFB. He didn't seem too thrilled...oh well.

Happy Columbus Day! :D

For all of those that are off, have fun, and those that aren't, still have fun!

Thanks Wally! This seat is Much Mo Better!!!!!!
Rode yesterday for about 50 miles, thought my rear would never be the same, new seat just came in, put it on and rode about 5 miles, I LOVE IT!!!!

Old_Crow 10-12-2010 04:28 AM

yup, now all you're needing is a sissy bar and some saddle bags, I see you've already got the passenger pegs.
I had to work Sat and spent Sunday working on my generator and otherwise gathering stuff to go to War Eagle. I gotta put a back tire on the bike before we go anywhere, it's gettin' kind of thin in the middle. Prolly get it done about the time the weather gets bad.

sddesigns 10-12-2010 06:47 AM

Good Morning AR! :)

Hope you all have a great day! :D

Nice looking bike Jeff!

Yep, been looking for the bags and bar, looks like the $$ never end. I'll get it like I want it yet.

Old_Crow 10-12-2010 11:37 AM

Don't know what the acronym is for Ford trucks, but Harley-Davidson=HD=Hundred Dollars. I once walked out of Rodney's in LR having spent only $2.87. My all time record. Usually it's like $287.00

I only know a couple of acronyms for Ford..and some of them could get you banned from this site.:-X10 But I'll agree on how HD is proud of anything with their name on it. A couple of years ago I picked up a dealer T-shirt for a cousin for Christmas. Thankfully the one I picked up was the former name of the dealer, so they were 1/2 off...but they were still expensive shirts. I've said it before, I'd love to have a HD...but they are VERY proud of them; and I work for a living.

Old_Crow 10-12-2010 02:01 PM

precisely why the newest one we own is my wife's '87 bagger. Her Superglide is an '85 and my bagger is an '82.
I spend a lot of time in the shop, but that's fun to me too.

mechmagcn 10-12-2010 08:07 PM

Yep, Hundred Dollar is about right. Went to Bossier HD last week, walked out with a jacket, gloves and a docking kit for the sissy bar, spent around $250. I wouldn't buy a new HD, wouldn't want one. In looking for a bike, I suspect a lot of folks don't want the newer ones either, most for sale are 2000 and later, seldom older.
Missed a set of saddle bags on e-bay today, went for more than I wanted to pay, still have a bid on a sissy bar though, we'll see how that goes.
Zack, too bad you work on Sat. there's a great car show at Wilberton, OK this weekend, I'll be there. Average around 475-500 vehicles every year.

Old_Crow 10-13-2010 05:18 AM

Going anywhere near War Eagle to get there? I've got the trailer all loaded except for food and all our display stuff packed. We'll probably head north around 9 this morning and be back home late Sunday night.
We have our stall in the group of tents on the mill side of the creek. Depression glass wind chimes are what my wife sells. Take your ladies to the craft fair and stop by and say "Hi".

sddesigns 10-13-2010 05:19 AM

Good Morning AR! :)

Happy Hump Day! :D

mechmagcn 10-13-2010 06:37 AM

Sorry Wally, if I didn't have plans I'd swing by that way. Headed out to Ardmore, OK to visit in-laws for a few days after the show.

zhilton 10-13-2010 07:50 AM

Morning everybody...I'd forgotten about what's like to have two days off back to back. Think I'm going to wash the Pavement Princess today, poor thing hasn't had a bath since June...two days before I hit the buck. Shame on me.

I'll be the first to admit that when I get on a scooter I want to hit the key & go. Guess that's why I like the EFI on my rice grinder. Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with the PM and washing the stupid thing from time to time (I'll never own another black one). I've heard horror stories of older HD leaking oil and rather cold natured when they were manual choke equipped. I've got a 351C that's cold natured & has a manual choke....

Well, I don't work Saturdays....sort of. According to the bid schedule I don't work Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday. But because the run I bid goes on duty at 1900 and is pretty much a 12 hour run...I end up working into my days off except Wednesday. Oh well, it beats the extra board in that I know when I'm going to work. The sitting around waiting for the phone to ring gets old when your sitting there by your self.:-X16

I sort of get close to War Eagle in my travels to/from work when I roll through Fayetteville. But then that's not saying allot when you consider WE is something like 25-30 miles East of Fayetteville (I think).

I though anyone from that part of Okieland is an outlaw. But that could just be my confusion after dealing with folks from Ada, McAlster & the great OKC metro.

Old_Crow 10-17-2010 10:44 PM

Well, made it home, had my shower and getting ready for some shuteye. We had our best weekend ever saleswise and it was a blast.
The truck pulled the camper to War Eagle with no problems and I thought I was gonna be the oldest rig there again. Til I saw some guy from Mo with a '51 F1 pulling a 4x8 homebuilt teardrop. Trailer had a For Sale sign, and when I stopped to check it out, he wanted $4800. Nice trailer, but not $4800 worth(at least not to me).

Man this thread has been quite for the last couple of days. Sad part is some guy from 'Jersey has been keeping it alive. We love you Steve, just not in the long showers into the wee hours of the morning type of love.:-X05 I have to admit this new schedule at work is different, but my wife seems to be happy with it. So I don't complain. Guess Jeff is still on the road in Okieland...poor guy. Everyone else must be working on their Halloween customs. I think I'm going to dress up as a large volume cargo relocation specialist.

sddesigns 10-20-2010 08:43 AM

Just doing my part and dropping by every once in awhile to say Hey! You guys usually have some pretty good BS going here and always a welcoming group! I feel the same way Zack, it's a family kinda love!...LOL

Nope, just got home. Didn't want to come back, but have to work a few days so I can take off again :-X05 I've got a teardrop gathering starting the 28th and thinking about heading to New Hampshire for Thanksgiving :)
Zack, I'll let you know this weekend if I can make it next week.

tojoski 10-21-2010 02:59 AM

Speaking of "large volume cargo relocation specialist"

Last year I dressed up in something similar to this:

http://www.drinkstuff.com/productimg/36058.jpg

Not surprisingly, you stay pretty cool in there with the inflator going.

Old_Crow 10-21-2010 04:18 AM

I'm still trying to recover from our weekend at War Eagle. I haven't been sleeping well since we got home. Last night the wife suggested I go sleep in the trailer because I wasn't having any trouble sleeping up there.

sddesigns 10-21-2010 05:13 AM

Good Morning AR! :)

Is it Friday Yet! :D

zhilton 10-21-2010 08:18 AM

Morning everyone, got some fresh brewed Folgers if interested. Heck, I'll even supply the sugar, cream & cup. FOB Ft. Smith through.

We only shell out USDA Grade A BS around here. No recalls or rejected crap, only the best. And as much as we love each other...your not getting my Bud Lite...man.

You must have gotten a hold of some of that orange water out there. It will screw your mind up...not matter how much/or little you have left. Took an intervention on the part of my wife to bring me back to normal after I was stuck in OKC for two week. Are you going to take the teardrop or puppy dog to NH?

That is so wrong in so many ways. Would have been funny to see you driving while wearing that. Did your boss getting any blackmail photos of such an endeavor? I will say this though, it reminds me of a guy that lives in Poteau, Okla named John Locke. He's theme song is Jimmy Dean's Big John...and it applies quite well. You should see this guy in a Santa suit during Christmas. A large Santa isn't quite the description I'd use...but it's a start.

Nope, it's Monday...or at least for me it is. But don't feel bad for me..while y'all are recovering from Monday...I'm popping a top on my Friday. Guess that just how the cookie crumbles.

More than likely the teardrop. I'm living in the 5th wheel right now, too much to pack down for a trip. 1600 miles each way, better get my rear end ready for some seat time.

For some reason I was thinking you'd gotten moved in at Swampy Hollow in August/September. Guess you were just moving furniture from Mt. Holly out that way on the dusty roads?:-huh

1600 miles each way...holy smokes steering wheel holder, that's a trip. The most I've ever done was 1100 miles (FSM to Clare, MI) when we went to see family and it wasn't exactly in one sitting. Too many complainers in the peanut gallery needing potty breaks before the truck burned through a tank of liquid dinosaurs. I would like to get a 90 gallon fuel tank in place of the in bed toolbox (that I've used twice in 3 years) so that when we make a road trip with the trailer I can go more than 2 & 1/2 hours between fuel stops. Can't make any money...err time with the left door open.x( The Pavement Princess is easy on the fuel...until you drop the travel trailer on the hitch...then you can literally watch the fuel gauge needle fall. Pretty sure I'm going to get shot down :-X01:-X01:-X01(3 to 1 odds) when I try it...but I'm going to try anyway.

mechmagcn 10-21-2010 01:19 PM

At the moment still living in the 5th wheel at Mt. Holly, hope to finish the place at the 'Bay this winter and then move in. Won't take long to have it where I can stay, just finish the bathroom walls and ceiling, then I can stack the washer/dryer combo, hard to stay without laundry facilities.
It's a fine afternoon, think I'll take the bike for a run to town :-dancing1

Old_Crow 10-22-2010 04:39 AM

Yeah, yeah, go ahead and torture me. Ours has been sitting for 3 weeks needing a back tire(which I also have sitting there). Haven't had the time to put it on.
Last night I came home, fixed my compressor and then took the back wheels off the Crown Vic to see which brake pads I need(2 options, based on the material of the caliper piston), tonight I get to finish the brake job so that yet another of my grown children can borrow the thing.
I've had that car over 2 years, it's had 8000 miles put on it and I've driven it to town a couple of times and once to Little Rock.
