1st oil/fuel filter change

well gang, Just completed my 1st oil change and fuel filter change in the 7.3.... it went pretty well, I even installed the fumoto quik valve.... for quicker changes.... used the napa gold filters, only have to say is I like the napa gold fuel filter b/c of the integrated cap and two new gaskets it comes with but man you have to watch out not to cross-thread since it fits so tight, good thing i had a spare sitting up on the shelf....

Also managed to install new speakers in the truck too, nothing special just 6x8 3-ways... so much better than the stock crap-tastic ones.

So the trucks coming along pretty good since its been in my care, now just to get that tune in.... only if time and money were infinite!!

Gotta love the rattle. Real trucks don't have spark plugs.

Gotta say my favorite Ford engines are:

1. 7.3 Powerstroke
2. 300 Straight Six
3. 390 FE

Out of everything I've owned those are my favorites. I am looking forward to rebuilding my 7.3 IDI though. SHould be fun.

The FE engines are my favorite.

Ordered a fumoto quik valve today. Will be time to change oil when it comes in.

Don't have one on any of my rigs except for the boat. Have a nipple type with a hose on it. Sure makes changing the oil in the boat a breeze. The only thing I would caution is to check the valve often until you are sure it is staying where it is supposed to stay.

They may have changed the design slightly, but one day after a particularly rough water day, we pulled the boat out of the water, pulled the plug and were greeted by oil and sludge. We still don't know why or how, but the valve had come partially open. Must have been right at the end of the day as we were coming into the dock as the motor did not get hurt. None the less, while they make changing the oil easier, it is now a point of concern that gets checked. I did put a wiring tie around it to make sure it never happens again.
