1997 F-150 Power window motor removal
I have searched the web, my Haynes manual, the threads on this website, and Im starting to wonder if it would be easier just replacing the whole dang door.
The window motor has twice stopped working for some mysterious reason on the driver side and within the same day started working. I thought maybe a lose connection or bad ground. Recently it rolled down and will not go back up. It only makes a faint clicking noise at motor when pushing the up position on the switch. Pushing the down position on the switch causes a clicking noise at the fuse. The fuse has been replaced and I have wiggled and tightened all connections. I currently have the panel off of the door and cant get to the motor. Any suggestions? |

Any suggestions? you have to drill em out-very carefully so you can get to the bolts I used like a 1/2 drill bit and drilled really slow or at least that's how it is on 94s |
Ok I drilled out the dimples and loosened the bolts but the motor still seems to be attached to something. Its definitely more loose.

unless they have the wires tied up against the door~~ |
I actually did get the motor loose but tested it and seems to still be working. Where should I go from here? Im pretty sure its electrical but maybe its the regulator. Any insight?:'(

Soo many things to fix and such little time, Knowledge, & money. Im at the point of no return with rebuilt motor & new transmission. Now its time for everything else to be replaced!

my 1990 would lock/freeze up in the full down position at times
never did figure that out  worked fine till someone would run it all the way to the lowest down position and I hit a few bumps -would try beating the crap out of the door e.t.c would have to remove or loosen the motor then hit the switch reattach and be good for the next time finally switched out the entire door-both of em no rust in them :) |
From what I read there is a power window relay that might be malfunctioning.
I test relays by removing them, prying off the cover, then reinstalling them and watching to see if they actuate. I can also close the relay by pressing with a piece of plastic. Answers.com - Where is the power window relay on a 2001 Ford F150 XLT |
