Thank a soldier
Hello everyone,
I've been a member of the Excursions forum for a couple of years. Long story short I heard a story about a soldier in Iraq who opened up a can of water only to find a bug in it. I thought WTF, these guys and girls are dying over there and I'm not doing anything for them. So I decided to do something. I'm in the hotel and restaurant business outside of Philadelphia. I put together a website to let all the service men and woman know that I appreciate the sacrifices they are making. If they come to my restaurant, I'll buy them a steak dinner, a Budweiser or a Coke, and a slice of apple pie, as a thank you from me to them. There must be other business owners here that could make some kind of offer. 20% off new sneakers? Discount on auto repairs, I don't know, something. If you're interested in participating my website is: Welcome to thankyousoldiers.org It's free, there's no catch, just no adult advertising and nothing that requires a purchase. Thanks for reading, and if the mods decide this isn't appropriate for this forum I totally understand. If you agree with what I'm doing please help spread the word through Facebook, Twitter, or whatever way you can. If you're a returning vet I look forward to seeing you. Thanks, Chris |
Reps to you Chris and thank you very much.

Great Idea! My Son would be very appricative.

Any ideas how to get the word out guys?
|
I'm going to forward the web address to my step-daughter. Her husband is currently in Afghanistan with the 101st Airbourn. She'll forward it to him. There's one.
|
My nephew (a Marine currently stationed in Afghanistan) lives just north of Philly.
I'll forward your generous offer on to him. Thank you Chris, for your support of our men and women serving overseas in the armed forces. :-X22 |
Thank you guys, I appreciate it.
|
Repped... :-dancing1
|
Thanks.
Just out of curiousity, I'm just north of Philly. Where does the nephew live? What town? I'm in Montgomeryville on Route 309 |

Hey, that's not too far from me. Nice area, ritzy even.
Btw, of course anyone from here is invited to stop by too. Sorry am so fixated on this, I forgot my manners. |
I moved this thread to the PA Chapter since you are located in PA. While I am grateful to the sacrifices the men and women who serve our great country, and the work you are doing for them, it has no place in open forum.
Rather than have the thread deleted, I chose to move it to the local chapter. Questions you can pm me. Moved from General Non Automotive |

What I do every day pales in comparison to what these men and women do for people like you and me, putting their lives on the line and making sacrifices that you and I never could. The next time you see a soldier, take a few minutes, stop, and shake thier hand and thank them for what they do.
|
Reps to you Chris.
|
Don't forget about the sailors, its not just all soldiers out there
|
I shared the link on FB for you... Lets hope others pass it on.
|
Sorry, no disrespect to sailors meant, I'm not a military guy. So I should extend to the offer to soldiers and sailors? Does that cover everybody?
When I said soldier, I meant all branches of service. Catawissa? I have a house in shenandoah. I'm pretty sure I drank at the "hosey" in Catawissa with my wife's cousin. Know any of the Polaconis |
Thanks, I appreciate it. Let's make this thing happen.
|
I've told my Son in Afganistan to spread the word. Some of his unit will start getting some RR in October.
|
I'll feed the whole unit. Send them up my way.
They're in the sandbox getting shot at, and I'm here in the airconditioning? It's the least I can do... |
catawissa is a small village, nope i have never heard of them, I am actually stationed down in South Carolina right now, been here for the last 4 months or so, going through my schooling to be a nuclear operator. Its a very nice gesture and i would love to stop in next time i get back home
