vacuum pump pulley
The other day i lost my power brakes and have come to the conclusion it is my vacuum pump i got the new one but i am wondering how to get the pulley off or if it requires any special tools to get off
On another note i was wondering if rear F350 springs would work on a f250 because i discovered that i have two broken springs in the back, also what years of d60 front axles will work on my 1995 f250 <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"> |
It requires a special puller to remove the pulley. The couple times I have needed to take one off I just took it to a local shop.
As far as the leaf springs go, F-350 springs will work, but it will sit a little higher. I believe a Dana 60 from 1980-97 will work, just the older ones have king pins instead of ball-joints |
Thanks for the information, you manage to find some interesting stuff when your laying underneath your truck when your hung over as hell because it is the only cool area, but it was pretty obvious because the two broken leafs had fallen out

I believe the D60 should be from an 86-97 iirc

Autozone lets you borrow the puller/ reinstaller. Like 30 bucks and they refund it. Its called a powersteering pulley puller. Threads in the shaft and pull on the ears on the midldle of the pulley. DO NOT use a fingered puller it will bust the pulley. Just ask my genius brother who didn't listen when I told him.

I have used the 3 arm pullers but need torches to heat the pully to get it to break free when I replaced the original pump. I had to replace the replacement one about a year later and I don't think I needed heat on that one to get it off. To put it back on just get a bolt with the correct threads and washers and tighten it down. Should push it back on.

I did it with a hydraulic press. My cap on the new vacuum pump is vibrating now but my brakes are still good, WTF.

i used a 3 jaw gear puller to get mine off then went to the hardware store and got a bolt that fit the threads in the vac pump in order to press the new one on.
