Wrench symbol on dash
I was on way to the airport yesterday and th yellow wrench light came up on the dash, didnt notice any loss of power or anything else wrong. turned of the engine and it went away for a while and then back on. Thismorning it didnt start like it should, any ideas please........Ive not had the truck back that long after the dealers screwed me over my warrenty... Thanks for your time.

The wrench symbol is the same as "check engine" Your truck is throwing a code that something is wrong. Get a code reader hooked up to your OBDII port to find out what is going on.
|
Ok will do, I wasnt sure i will go now and see, thank you.....
|
I think the engine symbol is more closely related to a check engine light. Whereas the wrench symbol indicates problems with the electronic throttle control. In either case you should check the codes to determine the problem.
|
could be that it is the EOT/ECT out of range if you have the recent flash. Had that show on mine and thats what it ended up being. And I confirmed with a code read and also running it and watching the point where it came on while observing the two temps get past the 15 degree limit. Now Im setting myself up to replace the coolers.

There is some info in TSB 09-24-3 regarding problems that cause the wrench light to illuminate.
|
Ok thanks, i have the lateset flash, and havent had it come on again so will just have to wait to see what happens. It is still hard to start in the morning though. I will have to go get a new code reader cant seem to find mine. Thanks again for the info guys...

What were you doing??????
Here is what I have seen. High humidity and outside temps in the 80's, full egr delete and tunes from Elite or SCT. Cruising at a steady speed of 70 for about 25 miles and A/C on high. Wrench light comes on, 22 degree spread of eot/ect. AC off it doesnt seem to come on. Towing it comes on within 20 miles unless I turn A/C off. Put egr valve back in and NOW the engine cooling fan comes on and the wrench light seems to stay off. fyi

Oo.:-hair You have just hit the nail on the head !!!! I was cruising down the highway on a hot day with ac on. The only thing i have had the EGR valve disconected for the last 3/4 months. I have pluged it back in now. I have instaled an Edge Juice with Attitude which i leave on #1 Mileage. I havnt had the light come back on yet but also i havnt been down the highway. But now its not wanting to start very well it fires but wont start straight away. I have just changed the oil and for the first time put a wicks filter the one with the lid on the filter, Im hoping its that. I am going to get a MC one and put it in. Fingures crossed.
Thanks Ben |
1. Cheazit has found that eliminating the egr valve screws up the cooling fan protocal.
2. Edge Juice and the 6.0/5R110 don't get along too well over the long haul. |
I have heard about the Edge but i thought if i kept it at the mileage setting it would be fine... If not tell me and i will remove it because it realy doesnt make that much difference.

my truck didn't want to start after ford worked on it.turn out to be glow plugs not hooked up on one side

If I have time Im going to do somemore looking as to the effect when there is a no flow code. |
bodger I would check charging system voltage and ficm voltage. either of those will also turn on the wrench light and also make hard starts.
|
Ok will do, the ficm is new and so are the batts. Ive had nothing but trouble since those dumb f***s at Kelleher Ford - Brandon, Manitoba. Worked on it. Im going to put a MC filter in on monday i didnt like the one they sent me. Thanks.
