Need to replace horn pad

The horn on my '98 Expy would sometimes stay on and the only way to silence it would be to remove the fuse. Unfortunately, this also eliminates the cruise control - which sucked on long drives. I troubleshot it to the plastic horn "pad" located between the leather cover (where you press to sound the horn) and the air bag. It looks like there are several kinked sections. There is a number: 32970203 located above the wire leads which eventually go to the horn relay, fuse and horn - and just underneath that #, it shows: TRW PNo 30308177A REV A, and underneath that, it shows: PRESSAC INC GTS. I did a little digging and found that Pressac is the manufacturer for these pads, but can't find the part itself anywhere. Anyone have any ideas how to go about getting a new pad - or do I have purchase the entire airbag assembly from the dealer?

There are lots of them in the bone yards and Pick N Pull yards have them for less than $50.00. Do a search for Pick N Pull in your area.

If it has something to do with a part for an airbag, you might try contacting this company to see if they have what you need.

Thanks for the tip. The nearest Pick N Pull to me is almost 300 miles away. I'll check my local wreck yards and see what they have.

It might be worth the ride. Here is the price for the airbag at my local P N P yard from their price list;
<TABLE cellSpacing=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=col1>253</TD><TD class=col2>Air Bag (Each)</TD><TD class=col3>Car</TD><TD class=col4>$39.99</TD><TD class=col5>$0.00</TD><TD class=col6>$39.99.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Good luck with it.

help needed too

maldbwmjr,
Did you ever find the part you needed? I have diagnosed the same thing, and even sent an email to Pressac in the UK...still can't find the part.
Thanks.

why didnt you disconnect the horn itself insted of pulling the fuze for the time being?

i think its behind the passenger foglight and just disconnect it from the harness
