Best alternator -- from Ford?
 

6.0L diesel, I think the alternator might be bad (going to have it test tomorrow). If it's bad, should I just order an OE from Ford? Or is there a high quality aftermarket alternator that is the general concensus around here?

I have done many searches and decided that you do not want to go "cheap". The first decision is whether or not you want to upgrade the output. I went with a 190A DC Power alternator (I wanted more amps than stock). Very pleased so far. There are many good ones, but the best value that I found was with DC Power.

If you have a day or so I would check with a local rebuild shop. Normally a little cheaper and you can look at the guy fixing it. In my little world I would rather pay someone local and be able to walk in his front door if something is wrong.

Apologize for the stupidity, what is the DC generator going to buy you in the truck?

I seriously worry about a guy with an engine bay this clean. My kitchen floor isn't that clean.
