mass air 460 ?????
hello, i found a econoline with a 7.5L (460) in the boneyard today, and the eec code is WAS3. just wondering if anybody knows anything about this computer and if it is worth using to swap a speed density 7.5L to mass air, or if it would be easier to use a mustang A9L computer instead?? any input would be great! thanks

460 MAF? wouldn't that be obd-2? 96 or newer?.

Vans and the Cali. spec'ed trucks got MAF just before OBD-II was introduced. The key here is usually a GVW rating less than 8500 lbs. IIRC.

Everything I have ever heard was that there were no mass air 460s made. They were all SD.

Someone here has a MAF 460 in a '96 or '97 over 8800 GVWR truck, but I think it is a California model with OBD-II. I have no idea what the computer catch code would be.

There is an older thread covering 460 MAF engines along with converting to them here on the board. Here is a link:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...questions.html To sum up the factory MAF 460's; they are not worth using as the setup is for emissions purposes and will not improve your power. You are better off using the A9L computer and doing some custom work. |

this is 100% positive a mass air 460. not sure on the GVWR on the van its in, and im not sure if it is OBD1 or 2. i have a manual tranny so that part is not an issue. i was just wondering about wether it would be easier to use the 460 computer because its already set up for the big block as far as firing order, injector size, mass air meter, verses the trouble of having the mustang computer reprogramed for the 460 and all of the other componets? i have just read posts and articles that state that people are getting more power and as much as 4 to 5 mpg better with mass air conversions, and if this is true... i want some of that action
