Expedition with a small diesel?

LEAKED: 2011 Range Rover confirmed to receive new 4.4-liter diesel engine

Made in the same foundry and plant as the 6,7-liter Scorpion. This engine would be a hit in F-150. Already in production

been a theory tossed around in the 2009+ forum for quite some time.

not really a reality. when gas was $4.5 to $5 a gallon in 2008, there was a huge push to get a diesel in the bigger trucks/SUV's...but now that it's under $2.50 in most areas...not so much.

we might someday see one, but more likely we'll see the Ecoboost first

Diesel would be very nice for towing, where torque is what really counts, not horsepower at 5000 rpm!

Just back from two weeks in the UK with a rental car. Ford Mondeo with a 2.0 turbo diesel engine. Very nice in this size car! Over 200 lb-ft of torque coupled to a 5- or 6-speed transmission so she had plenty of Go. Computer showed an average of 48 miles per gallon for about 1500 miles of mixed driving. Was paying £1.18 for low sulfur diesel -- per Liter! -- so the high mileage was appreciated. Diesel was cheaper than "petrol" in Britain by about 10p/liter.
