Shift Kit

Shift Kit for 2001 Expedition
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I found this forum when attempting to learn about the benefits of a shift kit. I have read several posts which have been helpful in making a decision.

I have a 01 Expedition with 88K miles and is currently having a rebuilt transmission installed. I am seriously considering a shift kit being added during the installation of the transmission but am concerned about how hard the shifts are after installation.

The primary driver of the Expedition is my wife in transporting the kids around town. I have driven a car and truck only a couple of times with shift kits installed and like the feeling of having extra power, but are the shifts too hard for a family vehicle?

Any insight is appreciated. I need to make a decision as soon as possible.

I love my factory tech valve body, but it gets some odd looks from my family when they ride with me. I can tune the throttle to make it feel less, but that's a lot of work.

Now with Trans-Go's PSKs (Performance shift kits) they are slightly tune-able. Add or remove washers to change the harshness of the shifts. I don't know enough about the tugger or other kits they offer, we only messed with the performance side.

Thanks for the reply ReAX. I decided not to go with the shift kit, mainly because I still like sleeping in my bed. My wife would probably send me to the dog house if she didn't like the shifts - or want a new vehicle...
