2002 F-250 Lariat Crew Cab

1 Attachment(s)
Just bought this 2002 F-250 short box crew cab. I've wanted a PSD for several years and had been looking for a nice 7.3 with 100k to 150k miles for the last couple months (I got this one with 148k on the odometer). This forum was a ton of help with information on what to look for, what prices were reasonable, and what to avoid. I was tempted in the direction of a 6.0 liter several times as there seem to be a ton of those available up here in the Northwest, but my patience paid off today when we brought this home for a lot less money and in just as good or better condition than some of the 6.0's I've looked at.

This will be my second Ford truck. As you can see from my user name, I've also got a 76' Super Cab and my dad still has our family 1972 F-250 Camper Special that we used for many a trip to Mexico and elsewhere towing our 5th wheel (that truck is on it's third engine and well over 400,000 miles now). I keep trying to convince him to buy a PSD, but he just can't let go of the 72'.

Love the Ford Trucks and hope to keep this one a long time, so any additional advice on what to do or not to do is greatly appreciated. This will be the tow vehicle for my 1959 26' Airstream and any other toys I can convince my wife to let me purchase.

Can't go wrong with a crew-cab Lariat!

Your Airstream is gonna' look proud behind this one!

Nice truck. Congratulations.
Check if it doesn't leak at the engine top, where the fuel drain valve orings like to fail as well as turbo orings and if everything looks dry - DRIVE IT.

Thanks. The seller actually let me take it home for two days before I bought it and I spent that whole time cruising this forum and going over the 7.3 check list for things like this. It passed all the checks here, so I drove it all over the place and put about 250 miles on it before I owned it :D:D Actually, I think I'll go take it for another drive right now.

Hopefully I can just keep posting about how much I love this truck for a while before I have to come back and ask you fine folks for help.

I have used a shop out in Monroe called Dynamite Diesel a couple times. They seem to be good guys.

Sorry, can't help you there. As long as you have the time and inclination, the guys and gals here on this forum will be able guide you through virtually anything you would need to diagnose and repair an issue with your truck. I certainly have no plans to take mine anywhere for repair unless circumstances will absolutely not allow me to fix it myself.
