Did you check the 10a fuse under the hood in the #12 position ?..which is the upper right of the two rows of mini fuses. And a Big Welcome to the forum...!!

Do you have license-plate lights? They are on the same circuit as the rear "running" lights.
There is a wiring harness interconnect back in the rear that may be either dirty/corroded, or separating from its mating connector. Here's the wiring diagram for the back-up lights: http://www.e-toolbox.com/ads/wiring/va112365.pdf Pop |
trying and testing suggestions
i am heading outside now to recheck the fuse which i beleive to be fine. and to answer the other post my plate lights are also not working. 1 plate light has a broken off bulb in it and hasnt worked for a few years but the other is not working. is the wire harness you wrote about a smaller harness with only about 2 or 3 wires in it( not the larger harness with the brake wires or the traile harness?) by the way thanks for the quick responses! this site has been so much help since ive owned the truck and now that ive posted its gotten even better!

Remember you can check fuses without removing them by using a ohm meter, set on resistance mode..

check the harnesses...also to be sure it's not the fuse under the hood as suggested earlier...take a look at the dash lights and the front running lights, they will probably be out as well...mine did it, hell, everybody's has at 1 time or another...when you check the harness, if it looks ok, look around for a burnt wire or a loose trailer connection...something caused that fuse to blow, remember that...and search away...:-drink:confused: |
and BTW marc...welcome to FTE...
