07 Expedition Air Cond
Hopefully someone can help. I have this 07 Expy, the dealer has recharged the A/C twice, both times it has lost the charge. They did put dye in and say they cant find any leaks. Obviously it has one. Anyone/techs have any ideas on a possible leak location? something to check? Id take it to another dealer but this has been an issue since i bought it so they have been working on it for free. I looked it over with a black light and saw no dye either. Some tricky area prone to Expys?
thanks for any help Matt |
check the rear condenser. not sure where it is on these, but with all of those lines, you very well might have a leak way out in the rear-end of the vehicle instead of up front by the compressor

Thanks for the input. Last night i did a real good look in a dark garage using a black light, fine tooth combed it. I found dye up front by the radiator on the drivers side. I also found a little bit of dye at the connectors near the rear unit behind the trim panel. Good call Tylus. So at least i have a few places for the dealer to check out.
Thanks. |
They should be able to fix it with that information.

glad it helped somewhat.
I find it weird they didn't find that themselves. those rear units are known problems on all vehicles...especially as they age. would have been the 2nd place I would have looked, and I'm only a shadetree mechanic. |
You know, doesnt surprise me much. Im an old school carburetor and points kind of guy, even though im only 41, and i find most of the time my extensive hands on experience and common sense approach sometimes beats a younger and supposedly better educated tech. My dad told me once. before you grab a wrench, look at everything real good, you will find your issue 50% of the time. Got to say he has usually been right.
