Michelin LTX MS/2 are the only street tires I know of that are worth anything off pavement.

i ain't from texas, but my wife lived there for about ten years. i know you guys don't ever really get snow, but that's what i use to convince people to move up to at least mt's. i pull people out of ditches all winter long. i usually come along after someone has tried to yank on some car with street tires for a while with no progress. i put it in 1st gear in high range and walk them out. makes people feel dumb. i'm not saying you need swampers, but you need something with some knobs and tread voids or you will just sit and spin.
