'73 F350 Super Camper Special 140" wheelbase **SOLD**

I bought this truck for the rear D70 to swap into my '75 Highboy. I took the HB D60 out and put it back under the SCS.

390 is a very strong and good runner. Does not smoke or knock. At the moment, the carb is acting up since the one that was on the motor originally was leaking out the accelerator pump so I installed the carb from the HB onto this SCS. Turns out the HB carb is leaking out the accelerator pump also. It also sounds like a vacuum loss as its not idling right.

When I bought the truck, I took a buddy with me and he drove it back home. Said that he was surprised and very impressed with how good the motor ran. Tranny shifted fine but it seems like the linkage is loose or sloppy, so that may need checking out.

After I swapped the rearends, I did not do anything to the e-brake cables but they're both junk anyways so I cut them off at the frame and the backing plate ends.

The truck will need the following to make it roadworthy again:

1. Carb rebuild
2. Rear rubber brakeline and bleeding
3. Hood latch (old one had broken handle so I removed the whole thing so hood would still open)
4. New tires
5. New owner

I have a good, clean Kansas title. There are extra parts in the bed going with the truck. An extra front bumper, extra tailgate, extra mirrors, extra carb, and a complete good running 360 from the '75 Highboy. I'm going 460 so don't need this motor.

Body has bondo and rust. This is no means a perfect truck and should not be considered as one. Odometer shows 34012 miles and title lists 134000 exempt. My guess is the odometer isn't working.

I will take a D60HP front out of a '78 or '79 in trades, gear ratio doesn't matter as long as its complete hub to hub.

$750 for everything listed above. You will need to trailer this truck since it needs a rear brakeline and bled.

I am in central Kansas, a town called Ellsworth. I'm 8 miles south of I-70 and 35 miles west of I-135.

Since I'm new to this site, I haven't figured out the pics thing. If you want pics of the truck, shoot me an email at pestywesty@yahoo.com and I will be more than happy to send you some.

Forgot to add:

If you have a D60HP, either a '78 or '79 and complete in good condition, I will remove the D44 under the Highboy and it will go with everything in the above post. I do not want to mess with the 44 nor have the room to store it. Its a closed knuckle, small ball design, with internal hubs and drum brakes.

The whole purpose of the SCS was the rear D70, period. I'm making an F350 out of the '75 HB. I do not want to mess with the SCS to make it roadworthy because doing so will take more of my time and money.

If there is no interest in this truck, I will be cutting it up to make a trailer out of it. Everything else will go to scrap except for the 390 and C6 of which I will try to sell later.

Screw it. Not one reply, so this truck is going to the scrapper. Making a trailer out of it and the rest gets hauled to the scrap yard.

Don’t feel bad out there in Kansas… I guess there is little interest in these trucks as I have a 74 F350 SCS with a 460, C6 and D70 along with lots of spares out here in Rhode Island that no one other than those I know will immediately scrap it for the $$$. AND I am willing to give it away for FREE to someone who I know will use the parts or rebuild it… (Note I have not posted here due to the 25-post rule.)

No, its a regular cab.

And yes, I've still got the truck. It's still sitting in the driveway. I've had no time to mess with this truck and would like for someone else to haul it off for only $500.

All 1973/76 F350 Super Camper Special's are Regular Cabs on the 140" wheelbase.

Ford dropped Super from the name after 1976, so..all 1977/79 F350 Regular Cab's on the 140" wheelbase are just called Camper Specials, except...

1973/79 F350 Regular Cab's on the 140" wheelbase can also be Trailer Special's.

btw: All 1967/84 F350's (except '79/84 4WD's) have the Dana 70 rear axle...with 8 lug 6.50" bolt circle wheels.

1953/66 F350's also have Dana 70's, but the wheels are 6 lug on a 7.25" bolt circle.

quality boy: Welcome to FTE

Figure about 750.00 to a grand to ship the SCS to CA on an open carrier.

These trucks are somewhat abundant here in CA. Because we have no issues with rust, there are more of these trucks here than anyplace else.

Outside of the bed and 140" wheelbase, all 1973/76 F350's are pretty much the same.

I understand that this an old post but what are the chances that you still have the scs truck?

thatK30guy 02-02-2011 06:59 PM

Long gone.

Have a question being you seem to have much knowledge with these trucks! My rt rear e-brake cable is bad. Do you know of a cross over from another truck or van that will fit? I seem to understand that this set-up is one of a kind with no matches?!?!
