6.2 liter mileage?

I'm really interested in the 6.2 liter Raptor, but I haven't been able to find a mpg rating anywhere except Fords stance which states that it will get approximately the same as the 5.4. Does anyone have a 6.2 and if so, what are you getting for mileage?

In a post over at raptorforumz.com by a Ford Marketing manager, it was stated that only 22 Raptors have been sold with the 6.2L. I think it will be a while before we have some mileage numbers from owners.
Considering the 6.2L is a much newer engine with newer technology I think it's believable that it will get similar mileage to the 5.4L.

only 22? how many out though, there are 2 at my dealer in the back yard waiting to be unleashed!

Here's the post I was referring to. It provides a very interesting look at the Raptors sales figures and future outlook.

Thanks guys, will be waiting patiently for those numbers. There are a handful of 6.2's around my area. but I want to be sure that the mileage is somewhat close to the 5.4 and not the 5-7 mpg range I've been hearing about.

I was looking for its mpg, too. Anyway, it would make sense that it would result with a similar mg as 5.4L since it inputs 100 more HP and same truck weight making it easier to pull its weight.

'05-'09 Mustangs... v6 and GT (v8) both have similar mpg despite the engine size but due to its weight carry for a true sample.

I seen two Raptors at a nearby Ford dealership. We will find it out soon.

Well I started out at 15.7 mpg, Now I have 9000 miles or so and it is at 13.8 getting ready to take to dealer and see about a flash maybe. 2011 F250 6.2 liter 6 speed auto 3:73 gears FX4x4 off road. But Pulling trailer with approx 8000lb it gets 12.9 (What's up with that !)

Pretty good pulling a trailer

If you live in the north them you are getting winter gas by now. There is a big drop in gas mileage when the stations switch over. I had a 4x4 Ranger that I drove last winter. During the summer I was getting around 18-20 MPG. When they switched to the winter blend it dropped to 13-14. When the snow started falling and I was running around in 4wheel and was getting about 10. And lord help me if I accidently filled up with some of that damn 10% ethanol crap. That little V6 drank that stuff to the tune of 7-8 MPG!

On a trip we took to Fargo a couple months ago in my wife's '10 Mustang we got 28 MPG running 93. We filled up before heading home with the only thing we could find in town; 89 with 15% ethanol. Running the same route and same speed we got 18!

You may want to watch what you're getting at the pump. In these new engines it makes a bigger difference than you would think

jd97brian 11-05-2010 08:21 PM

I find it hard to believe that you lost 10mpg with 15% ethanol. I can see maybe 2mpg but not ten. We have pumps that have 10, 20, 30% ethanol and e85 and I have run 30% in a 2002 F-250 and only lost 2mpg. If you can't tell I'm a farmer and sell corn to ethanol plants and resent the comment about ethanol being crap. I guess I would rather keep the money in the USA and support ethanol instead of sending money to the middle east.

jokerforever 11-07-2010 03:58 PM

You can believe or not, but it did happen.

And yes we shouldn't be sending our money to other countries. I've spent too many years of my life in those damn countries. If you can't tell I'm active duty military. We should be using our own oil and you should be selling your corn to other countries with starving populations to bring money back it us.

But this isn't a political site and this is completely:-offtopic

The 6.2 is not recommended to run anything higher than 10% ethanol, so the point about this being off-topic is dead on....
