K, the 460 swap won't happen

However, from what you have said, I'm pretty sure of a few things, one, I'll be swapping firewall, and I'll be modifying it for more room while it's out.... I've heard about the downpipe, and it's one of the things I'm looking to upgrade.

There, that's one decision made, and I'm sure it's saved me time... thanks.

If you use a 2 in bode lift it will give more than enough clearance

Well years later ive got my 4x4 i decided to go with the axle swap from the donor 97 under the 79 2wd frame. I ended up finding a longbox steppie and went with it. It looks different on the crew cab. The only problem ive ran into with the conversion is the rear wells not lining up right. The tires are bout 2.5" from rubbing on the forward part of fender. But overall ots coming along. Heres the build page, take a look.

Great projects!!

I started on a project very similar. Found a 9' ford step side sitting in someone's backyard and bought it before they made it into a trailer. It set under a shed at my place for a couple years waiting on the right truck. Then found a 93 f350 crewcab with 460 that had 200,000 miles on it. Several previous owners had worked on this truck and nothing really worked on the truck. Need a lot of new parts to get it DOT ready. Then I ran across a 77 Supercab missing motor and trans. Supposedly rust free when I bought it. But found out later the rust was free, I just misunderstood the seller. To fit the 9' bed and 77 Supercab on the 93 crewcab, I had to cut 8" out of the frame and move all of the cab mounts.

Been working on my project for almost 12 months. Changed my mind in April this year and went with a 93 Cummins and adapted it to the ZF5 so the drivetrain would all be ford.

1973 F250hd Shortbed single cab frame swap

I’m trying to do the same with a 73 F250, short bed single cab. up to what year are the frames exactly or mostly compatible for a swap? The truck I have was a farm truck and has 55,000 original miles but the dude was a senile 80yr old dude and god bless him but he did not do a very good job looking after the rust and the frame

im not completly sure with the 4 door pickups. But me and a freind of mine took his 1970 ford f250 2wd and put it on a 1985 ford 4wd frame and everything bolted right up. From the info he found when he did his swap that any ford will fit any ford ford frame taking into acount that it is the same cab and box lenght.
