New here, 63 in the works
Hey all, here's a few pics of my 63 I just bought a few months ago. So far I've flipped the rear axle and c-knotched the frame, got a dropped front axle going in next week, and I'm currently pulling a 460 out of a 76 T-bird I bought for 380 bux!! running!!! The cars alot worse than it looks in the picture and it's going to be junked, so we just cut the front off it to make getting the motor out a little easier. Glad to be here, been doing alot of reading.

Zoom-Zoom, 460ci, really appreciate taking a classic treasure, one step removed from the bone yard, and putting the time and effort in reconditioning and putting the truck back together. Seem to recall couple members who are/were in process of restoring their unibody Ford pickups, perhaps by running a search and norrow field to the 61-66 forum may find few pic's and source of info and ideas. Your ride is already looking good, thanks for sharing.

Weclome aboard; looking forward to seeing the progress of your Slick. My next project to similiar; 64 Customcab swb dropping in a 360 / C-6 combo. Would love to see axle flip pic if possble. After that I'm going to get my hands on a 63 Big back glass swb uni; with a 460 drive train out of a LTD to include front clip. Money is the only set-back so far; can't seem to have enough!!!!!!
Again welcome and glad your here. Mitch |

Here's a few more pics of where I'm at now. I'm going to clean the motor up and put an intake and a carb on it, and a set of headers, and just get it in there so I can drive the truck for the summer then in the winter I'll tear the whole truck down. It needed a rad support so figured I'd take care of that now and make the install a bit easier. This is really the first vehicle I've really tried to do this much too myself, I'm having a blast!! I have a good mechanic friend that gets an awful lot of phone calls lately :-X09

While you are changing the intake and carb change out the timing set for an early straight up tru roller. It will help the engine wake up as stock it is retarded by the cam gear.
Nice project. Garbz |
sweet.

1968/72 LTD/Mercury Marquis came with 429's. Some 1973's came with 429's, some with 460's. 1974/78's came with 460's. All of these cars: The 429/460 was an option, so not all will have it. The block casting number used 1971/78 is the same for both: D1VE-6015-AB, AB1, AB2. All 1968/78 Lincoln Town Cars/Town Coupes, 1969/71 Mark III's, 1972/76 Mark IV's, some 1977 Mark V's have 460's. Some 1977's & all 1978/79 Mark V's have 400's. No 460 engines in passenger cars after 1978. 1968/71 T-Bird's have 429's. All 1972/76 T-Bird's have 460's. No 460's in T-Bird's after 1976. |
I WISH I HAD A SHED LIKE THAT

Thanks guys, I'll get some pics of the axle flip here soon, I just cant really get under there too good right now because the fronts lifted. Here's a link to the guy I got my front axle from. His names Sid, real nice guy. My axle was around 375 I think, but if you send him your axle it's cheaper, I kept my original so I could still roll the truck around until I got the new one.

I finally got back in the garage and we got the axle in, I couldn't get a good pic angle because I don't have much room in there. I'm rolling it out this weekend so I'll get some more. Gotta cut those u bolts too, that'll give me,.. oh about 3 inches to the ground haha, might be ok for some of you in the states but 3 inches isnt much driving these roads up here!
