Tractor turbo swap
Just thought I would make a new thread instead of fill up the BS thread with 15 pictures. Old turbo was definitely tired at nearly 7600 hours, worked hard many of those. New turbo really cleans up the smoke good. Backed out the fuel screw after the install and it smokes less than before. Only purchases to complete the install were: turbo, manifold, exhaust sleeve, manifold to turbo adapter. Not a truck but it is a Ford engine, one I wouldn't mind having in a truck either. }>

Looks great Thomas!! Nice pics! Can you tell a big difference in power with the new one on there? I like the chrome stack on the tractor too!!
P.S. one of these days I will get you the pcm code of my '94 too. |
It's definitely noticeable. I had the compressor outlet clamp on the turbo snug but not tight and it blew it off when my dad was testing it out. I think I forgot to tighten it but I'm sure it was snug enough I wasn't expecting that to happen.

Nice work on getting that to all work together.

Surprised ya didn't put the updated oil filter like on the TW's. We got rid of the cartridge one on our 8000 a few years ago and it makes oil changes a lot easier. BTW is the new exhaust manifold and turbo off a TW or 30 series? Love those Ford tractors:-X03

I checked with the local NH stealer here wanted $248 for that little adapter, Id like to change mine too, but i need to rebuiled the master cylinder first and that kit alone is $160, man NH parts are spendy

Well the old manifold was only used from the 8000-9600, anything newer than that has the new manifold style that I swapped in. Yeah we could probably upgrade that filter too, doesn't get too much hours or oil changes though, few too many tractors around. Since it was mentioned, I did some looking with the shortline product dealers for us and found that adapter. It can be had for sub-$100. If you have a local A&I products dealer you can get A-DKPN6882A, or from All State Ag Parts 115060.
