2004 F150 Triton V8 - Oil Change?

What is the best synthetic oil to use when changing my oil? I've heard different people I know tell me different types but I would like to get your opinion on this, seeing how you are the Ford Truck guys! 8D

Motorcraft 5w-20 synthetic blend.

Motorcraft 5W20 syn blend is great, for the price. My last 4 changes, though, have been with Quaker State 5W20 Torquepower full synthetic because I got 24 quarts for 99 cents each. With Motorcraft 820S filters, that's about $10 for a full syn oil change and it works for me (a semi-retired cheapskate).

Now that the last of it is in my crankcase, I will either go back to the Motorcraft or might try some Pennzoil Platinum or something like that IF I can find the right deal.

Any major brand full synthetic (Pennzoil, Castrol, Valvoline Synpower, Quaker State, Mobil 1, Motorcraft, etc) would probably be just fine in the correct weight if you really want to go full syn. I have to admit that my 4.6 really likes the Quaker State, uses just about zero oil between 6-7000 mile changes with 80k on the motor. (I would change the syn blend a bit sooner, maybe 5000 miles, myself.)

If you want to adopt the "designer motor oil lifestyle" or make motor oil your religion, you could go hang out on bobistheoilguy.com and see what the oil of the week is. IMO, they're all just fine.

You will be good with Motorcraft semi syn. If you want a full syn, PP or Mobil1 are your best balance between price and performance. Personally, I use either PP or Mobil1 in both of my trucks. I buy whichever one is on sale when I need an oil change.

Ive run the motorcraft semi-syn 5w-20 and a motorcraft filter since my truck was brand new. 83,000 miles later and the oil comes out almost as clean as it goes in.

Which one is the best??? Why, whichever one is on sale of course. :D

I have seen Motorcraft 5w-20 full synthetic at an Advance Auto for just under $5. That's a good price for full synthetic. I would stay with the FL820S filter.

I always liked Mobil 1 5w-20 Fully Synth

Yeah same hear Mobil1 all the way. Cost me like 70$ to do a change but my Ford loves me

This was a one-time closeout at Advance Auto almost 2 years ago. I bought all they had (kind of a no-brainer). I think they were discontinuing carrying it and I came into the store on the right day.

I also have the remnants of some Valvoline Synpower 5W30 I'm using in one of the cars that was a buck a quart after rebate at Murray's (now O'Reilley's). Again, that was a while ago.

Doubt I'll ever find full syn for a buck a quart again, but it sure was a good deal when I could. Really, it was $10 for a full oil change including a $4 Motorcraft 820S filter.

2005 Exp EB 4x4 w/ 96k miles.. Second owner, every since I had it been running the MotorCraft partial syn in it. No problems, and most affordable at Wally World (WalMart) can't beat the price on the jug o'oil and filter.. just my opinion tho...
