1966 ford restoration

Hi guys i have been restoring my 66 f 100 the last couple of years. I have been doing a lot of metal work and was documenting it on another webs site. Well the site crashed and all my pics and post were lost. It got to be a lot to post picks in differant places so i am going to try to keep up with it here as much as i can. I have some pic in an album i started. Here is a link to my thread on Allmetalshaping.com where i am also keeping up with it.

It seems one must be a member since as soon as you click a .jpg link you get taken to the log in page.

A suggestion: Make a folder on your C:\ and name it like Resto project. Make a subfolder & name it images.

Grab a free html editor, Kompozer is one, KompoZer - Easy web authoring

Start putting your text and photos in a story referring images to /images. Once you get it going, you can upload the project to your internet provider free webpage that comes with your account.

I have a website and if it crashed, I could have it back up in 5 minutes, because it is a copy of one on my hard drive.

What site? Have you exhausted all options in terms of accessing archived material?

66 twin i 03-13-2010 09:13 PM

i am a member of metalmeet.com and there was a system crash. They were able to reload but the backup is 3 1/2 years old so anything since 2007 was lost but they are still trying to get the info back.

Back to the topic at hand i worked on the pickup alittle today and managed to get the inner cab corner in and hope to get the outer done tomorow. I willl see if i can get some new pics too.

I think they're putting you on. Hope it wasn't a pay site in any case.

No its not a pay site. It has been around a long time and there are many great metal shapers on there. If i understand right they switched website host or something like that and they didnt backup the info like they were supposed to. But i dont want to get away from why i started this thread by talking about website crashes i want to stay on topic about my truck project.

There's the exhaust fan picture! Cool stuff.

Sorry to hear about losing the pics. That's rough. I agree w/ Jowilker - think I'll start following his lead!

Heres a few pics of the cab corners from this weekend. I didnt have the welds ground before this pic but my wife and son were sleeping so no noise. I hope to be on to the doors next weekend.

Really nice job on the welds, I was a member for a short while at metalmeet.org but then the site crashed, just got signed back up. For anyone who hasnt been there it is an amazing site with an incredible amount of knowledge when it comes to welding, metalshaping, etc. A must see/read for anyone who is looking into to metal work such as rust repair, etc. Look forward to seeing more progress on your truck, keep up the great work!

My welds werent that good in a few spots. My gap go a bit to big in a few places but where it had the gap right they were awsome welds. I am happy with my plug welds on the bottom. I just hope my welder gun holds up a little longer. I am going to start on the doors next and next month at a metal meet i am going to tackle one of the box corners thats rough. I am going to go from the wheel arch to the tail light panel.

Started on my door tonight. I made a patch to fix some rust on the inside of the door case. I just need to cut it out and weld it in. Heres some pics.
