please help turbo
 

please help me fast before i buy something that is wrothless.

i found a 2.3 with 5 spd trans for 275. the 2.3 is turbo, but when the guy bought the car someone done sold the turbo on it. so it is missing. i dont know how much of the turbo is gone. the guy told me you still could use the 2.3 with out the turbo.

how true is this? since it had turbo on it would the engine be weaker with out it then a normal 2.3 with out turbo? am i wasting my time thinking about buying this engine to run it with out the turbo?

Yes, it will run without the turbo, and yes it will be a huge dog. Compression was much lower on the turbo engines.

so if i dont plain on putting another turbo on this engine, then i am just better off finding one that never came with the turbo

But...the good thing is that turbos for them are not too hard to find. I have two turbos from 2.3s myself, one that someone gave me and another I paid 50 bucks for. There's one on eBay right now that's at 25 bucks with only one bid.

Is the intake still on it? Can you tell if it was carbed or injected? the '85 and newer IFE versions are more desirable, if it fits that category and you have an application for it, I'd snag it.

i passed it up. i couldnt see spending the money at this time. i get my cdl wednesday and start otr soon. wont be home much. ill end up kickn my self in the a$$ later down the road. but yes it look injecter style
