Today I tightened up my new rear driver side brake line at the junction block on the axle. It had been leaking a little when under pressure, but it seems dry now. Then I bled the rears.
Yesterday I drove it 210 miles, mostly interstate between Cincinnati, Springfield, and Dayton. It averaged close to 20 MPG, from what I could tell by not keeping very close track. Extended periods of 75-80 MPH too! As long as the terrain refrains from an uphill inclination, my 240, directly driving 2.70-3.00 gears, hangs with today's traffic pretty nicely at speed. That old truck didn't skip a beat, and made me proud!:-X22:oval

Yeah I guess he just wasn't going to spend a dime on a lift. I bought it for the frame and axles. The body is shot with rust. Too bad knowing how hard short beds are to find...

I love this thread! It's like the first day back to school LOL

Yesterday I had a new windshield put in Fi-Fi, I put on a new rear view mirror and windshield wipers, I played with a radio problem, I played with a loose ignition, and I cleaned her interior.

Drove the yellow truck to Mexico. The shop I had used previously to charge the A/C was closed, so I found a new shop.

The technician checked the system out, topped it off, and sent me on my way. In and out in about 15 minutes. Charge: 300 pesos. About $15

Sat in the border crossing line for about an hour. Kept an eye on the temp gauge. The needle moved onto the "200" but never past it.

Brought the truck back home and changed the oil and filter. Valvoline VR1 20w50 and MotorCraft filter. Drives well and blows cold. :)

Nice job-don't forget the tag to identify the gear ratio!

I steam cleaned my gas tank, and re-installed with a new float, gaskets, fuel lines, and two filters. Got my truck started and ran it up and down the driveway to check out the systems. Now I cannot wait to road test the new beast.

Good job! The tanks are so dang awkward to work with

Thank you Papa Bear, I should also report I met my trucks original owner! He still has the original engine for me and a rust free dentside cab!

Got a JY tailgate to replace my severely dented one and got it painted and installed.

I also got a 80's spare tire carrier and removed the spare tire from the bed and installed it under the gas tank.

Next thing is to work on the bed....not sure if I'm going to be able to tackle that or not. But we'll see.

Good score on the tailgate-it looks great!

That bed panel doesn't look too bad, and would probably be a good learning experience. Or you could just call it a "character line" ;)
