Hit it up with some Mother's Polish, or better yet...

Work your way through a set of Jewelers Rouge polishing compounds. They'll shine up real nice!

Great rims btw. Love old slots.

Spent most of my weekend polishing... and awaiting Spring as well.

So far it's taken about 5 hours per rim. Wash, light polish with Mothers Mag & Aluminium, cut & colour polish with black jewelers rouge.

But first! I purchased a used Thrush muffler to 'get me by' with the local authorities for being street legal }>

Next, I hit up my aluminium intake with some engine degreaser. Used a brush this time and she came out nice.

Up close - all that white 'rust' and water spotting... Courtesy of the last owner :-arrgh

Applied a little white magic.

Comparison shot. Left - polished with mothers, then hit with black rouge. About 4 hours total in polishing (more to come). Right - washed only. No mothers applied yet.

Action shot of mothers polish applied and a closer view of the polished rim.

Needless to say, my hands hurt from the weekend.

So how hard was it to install those cleats.

Its a 15 minute job with the correct tools. I ordered a Rivnut tool from amazon along with Rivnuts. The hardest part was finding a size T drill bit.

Do you have a link to the tool and nuts you got?

I have done a lot of aluminum polishing over the years, I had a lot of aluminum on my 83 XLX sportster that I ended up sanding and then buffing and polishing (lots of time invested and sore fingers). That mothers is some good stuff, it's what I have been using for a few years, your wheel looks spiffy too, and I love my slots too, lol,
Thanks

After you hit the wheel with the black rouge, try some green rouge. I did the exact same thing that you are doing now on a set of Harley heads. After a while, I stopped using the Mother's polish and tried the green rouge with better results faster. Plus my fingers didn't hurt any more.

Looks great, did you get those from that place in Ks? Dang I should of kept those rear leaf springs. How about you put the spring part # on here for me? Nice e brake drop bracket. Looks like a new power brake booster is going on.

brian1080 02-16-2017 09:41 PM

I got the shocks from the link you posted, 4x4 something or other. I have the Part numbers listed here somewhere, ill search or post again. I wanted to keep ebrake, so had to modify the bracket. Still need to get new cables and adjust the brakes. As for the booster, I've had it on and off 3 times trying to get the brakes working right. No matter what I do, they are spongy. Everything is new except prop valve. Sunday will be dedicated 100% to brakes. Should be able to get exhaust on next week. I built what I could but the front will need professional tools.
