Drove ol silver to work, gave it a tank of gas. Then lite them both up later on this evening with some new lights on the hillbilly bug.

Headers!

Went by the UPS store to pick up my care package from Summit. Removed the exhaust manifolds. Neither was terribly hard to remove. The left was easiest

, as the right had a seized nut and stud

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...60e50bc17.jpeg

Followed the instructions from the web site:
1) Disconnect battery cable
2) Drop starter
3) Drop front drive shaft
4) Disconnect motor mounts
5) Jack-up engine

Headers slid right in. Hardest part was securing the bolts on cylinder 3

Drove to the gas station for a fill-up, but the pump shut-off at $75.00.

Maybe I'll have glass packs installed...open headers are LOUD!!!

Found me a PRISTINE 4bbl intake manifold off of a junk '64 T-Bird for $100. SOLD! As David Freiburger would say, "MINT!"

I truly feel your pain. These are not much better than open headers (off a 460 no less). Once we are roadworthy, definitely headed to the muffler shop.

As for Punkin, chasing some electrical gremlins from the rewire (no brake lights or back up lights/gas gauge is non-op) and waiting on a new radiator. Got everything buttoned up engine wise and we decided we were going to piddle all over the floor and start steaming in the garage. PO(S) had a cobbled together setup. New one has twin 12" electric fans.

In the meantime, got the passenger side fender put back on (aligned beautifully) and got the driver's door put back together. And we have tunes!

Well I got my taillight harness fixed up today and were some farmer had spliced in a trailer harness with scotch clips the wires had just broken so instead of soldering them back together I added a weather pack so I can make a proper t-harness later on down the road and I added a ground wire to the box. I also removed the broken tailgate hinge bolts and cut one of the hinges and the tailgate to make it removable.

Yesterday I too changed the oil in the ol silver 77, installed new air filter, and tightened up my alt and a/c belts.

Cleaned out the tool box of excess "stuff", and hauled a few pallets home from work.

Here's what I made with Pallets from work. Mrs. Whitt has all kinds of veggies growing in them now.

Changed out yet another set of smoked points. Good news is that it runs great with the new set.

why not upgrade to better technology?, like a petronix ignitor and do away with the ancient points/condensor set up

I am considering it. I will give it one more set of points and if those burn up in too short of time, it will be time for Pertronix.

California registration for a 75. $70 registration and $80 weight fee. Wtf

HIO Silver 04-26-2016 12:35 AM

Fabbed up a couple more adjustable rock light brackets... pics and installation notes soon.

I'm in CA too...Registration is about the same for my 73 4x4. Putting things into perspective, my Ferrari 360 is $630... it's all relative.

Added two inch wheel spacers to the rear.

Might I ask where you acquired those? Also steel or aluminum?
