Discovered the hard way that I have a 460 with a marine cam in it! Not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet.
I finished off replacing the intake gaskets as the PO(S) had left all the bolts loose allowing coolant to get into the oil. While I had it off. I replaced all the fuel lines, water pump, thermostat, plugs, and wires. Got everything back together this evening and asked the wife to come turn the key so I could keep everything safe in case something went sideways. Turn the fuel pump on and turn the key and get...lots of fuel coughing up through the carb. No start. Damn. Well, maybe I was one off on the dizzy wiring, so I rotated each plug wire one position clockwise (HEI cap does not have #1 marked). Still nothing. Break out the pics I took when I got it home and started looking at how the plug wires were routed. Ignition order 18736245. WTF??? Doesn't correspond to any schematic I can find. Finally just plug the firing order into google and get tons of marine websites. Pirate had a couple posts on it as well. Back to the garage, reorder the wires, turn the key and it fires right off... :-roll |

Mines a 77 F150 4x4. I got mine from Jegs and the part numbers are: 7455 front and 7436 rear. I don't think those will be the right numbers for your 250 HB. You could go to Jegs and plug in your truck info and find the parts...... I'm sure Helwig makes a set for your rig.
They were easy to put on but I felt the same as Mike000 about the fit on the rear bar in the thread below. I even went back to the web site to see if I had ordered the wrong part. |

I will trade you one of my kidneys for that truck.

Well, this winter I had to tear Buford apart as the rear gas tank had a wicked leak, and we can't have that sort of thing happening at car shows (especially on the grass). So, after having figured out the my vendor sent me the wrong tank and getting that straightened out, I tore out the old tank, put the new one in, and put it all back together.
Well, this last weekend, I took Buford out for a bit for a shakedown, and learned just two nights ago that I had a new leak in the new tank........needless to say, I used most of my profane vocabulary at the prospect of having to tear it all out again. So, last night I dropped the transmission crossmember, dropped the exhaust, and then finally dropped the tank. It was what I thought it was.......the o-ring seal on the sending unit had slid out of place when I had installed it, and I didn't notice. So, once I got all that figured out, I buttoned Buford up, and filled the tank. Came home tonight, and it's dry as a bone under there, so I think we finally have everything under control. Managed to take a few pictures during the weekend for another little project I'm working on...........enjoy! https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...07f9729317.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...10d716cb63.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...bb21d92d8d.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...b897868bac.jpg |
