Odd. Oh well, another PO mystery I guess. Maybe they swapped cabs with one that hadn't had A/C and kept the old dash, etc. without hooking it back up.

Yep. Dealer installed A/C. An easy way to tell is the vent in the instrument cluster. If it has a screw on either side of the vent, it's dealer installed A/C. The dealer used the non A/C dash bezel and cut out the Ford emblem, then screwed a vent to the back side of the bezel.
Also, the A/C controls will be separate from the heater controls in the middle of the dash. My '73 has dealer air. |

Factory AC dash with the separate control. Not sure why the firewall in this one is different. Might have been a cab change by not one that I knew about. Not too worried about it personally. Might try to find a non AC dash at some point. |
OK, that's the dealer-installed setup. Makes more sense now. Factory A/C had the controls integrated with the heater controls rather than the separate knobs over by the vents.

Installed my electric fan. Not a bad upgrade for less that $55. Got the fan from a '95 Mercury Cougar V8 from the local salvage for $23 and the wiring harness from ebay for $32. Took longer to fab up a set of brackets than it did for install the fan. I highly recommend doing this upgrade. If I can do it, anybody can.

went to my late Aunt Fern's old house and picked up a new deep freeze she had extra with my 78 it was the first drive since i drove it home from the shop since i just got it re-insured today..... filled up the tank with premium and it wasn't too painful...... got a slow leak in my tire patched.....and last but not least i scheduled for my exhaust to be done on her on Thursday $350 gets me Dual 2.5" all the way out the back with 4.5" echo tips i have until then to decide whether i should 45 them behind rear tires or 90 or straight out under the bumper what you fellas think?
|
I like exits behind the back tires, but on an angle. I think that looks best.
