5.4 VS 6.2

The difference in price is $3,000. What's the HP rating differential? I do not know.

Huck BB62 01-05-2010 12:58 AM

Here ya go...

310hp and 365tq for the 5.4 on 87 octane.

411 hp & 434 tq on 87 octane for the unavailable 6.2 (yet)

The 5.4 does a fantastic job on the torque, but that 6.2 should be a runner!

TOMHONE 01-05-2010 08:29 AM

All the reviews I've read on the Raptor say: get the bigger engine.

Huck BB62 01-07-2010 10:25 PM

All the people who actually own one say....

The 5.4's great.

boxcar_tommie22 02-11-2010 06:16 PM

6.2 is 400 hp and 400ft lbs

boxcar_tommie22 02-11-2010 06:20 PM

i would not want a 6.2 engine the diff in ft lbs of torq is only 3...my 5.4 in my raptor smoked a 6.2 chevy today!!!

Hey Huck, what kind of mpg are you getting with the 5.4/4.10/35s?

Huck BB62 02-19-2010 08:26 PM

13 in town, 14 if I take it easy. 17 on the highway, 18 if I grandma it.

That's about what all others are reporting. I suspect the 6.2 will get better than that IF driven carefully, but really, WHO'S GONNA DO THAT!?:-jammin

What do you mean the difference is only 3?

boxcar_tommie22 02-20-2010 09:31 AM

5.4 in my raptor is 397ftlbs and the 6.2 is 400...and the 6.2 will be made from the 5.4...the 6.2 sounds awesome maybe in later years i will get one...i just love my new 5.4...i was told by ford that the 5.4 in the raptor is different then the 5.4 in the other vehicles..especially fuel system is one....

6.2 engine

:-DHello-The 6.2 is NOT derived from the 5,.4 , and also has 411 hp and 434 Ft.lbs. Torque on 87 octane fuel . It is a 2-valve engine with much wider bore spacing for the larger bore , and a much shorter stroke than the 5.4 engine . I don't know where you get your information , but it is incorrect in the first degree!

The entire drivetrain is beefed up, starting with the engines. The base engine for the 2010 Raptor is the 5.4L Triton V8, offering 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque but for those who have a bigger need for off-road speed, the new 6.2L V8 is available with 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Next, Ford’s Special Vehicle Team went to work on the F150s suspension, relocating the shocks to make for a more stable, wider track in the front and rear. The shocks themselves are

Go to the Ford Raptor site and check the info.

5.4L 320 hp 390 tq with E-85 fuel, (same as any other F150 model with a 5.4L)
6.2L 411 hp 434 tq projected rating

Well...

I believe the 6.2 will be an awesome upgrade for the Raptor. The Raptor with the 6.2 will be stunning, absolutely stunning. I went with the 5.4 though. Offroad, you know what you have to do already? Put it in offroad mode aaaaannnnnddddddddddd TURN THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF!!!!

On dry pavement though, the 6.2 will be glorious. It'll pound the dog snot out of a 5.4. Think about it, low axle ration, super low first gear, locker, four wheel drive, it's gonna SCOOT!

All that said and done, I love my Raptor. It's plenty fast, period. If it gets stolen, I'll order a 6.2.

It's a good time to be a truck fan, Ford's BRINGIN' it!!!
