The grille says it's a '63. Maybe a typo?

sgettin 12-22-2009 11:17 AM

vins correct and i hear 66 is the only year that didn't have steps so must be original. would be a nice addition that i don't need.

mikeyyy 12-22-2009 06:34 PM

I thought 65 didnt have steps? Whole front end is wrong. Still a cool truck tho. If it was closer I'd be buying it.

sgettin 12-22-2009 07:33 PM

from what i've been told 66 is the only year that does not have a step. i noticed the front also, especially the grill and emblems. still kind of a nice truck if you don't mind them a little rough. my "project" is enough for my finances so i'll leave it alone. also i pbly shouldn't admit this on here but i'm looking for a very rough and cheap 60-66 k20 (chevy). i still like fords better but the chevy 4x4's and dodge d200 4x4's are also cool in my opinion.

got me on that one. i'm guessing napco's were late 50's maybe very early 60's options.

What do you mean by "step?" That it's a Flareside Pickup?

ALL 1961/72 F100/250 2WD/4WD's & F350's were available as a: Cab & Chassis, Flareside or Styleside Pickup, with a Platform (flat bed), or a Platform & Rack (stake bed).

There were two Open Drive-Away's available: Cowl & Windshield or Chassis & Cowl. Good Humor Ice Cream trucks for example, were Cowl & Windshields.

F26DK686223

F26 = F250 4WD

D = 352 2V (The D VIN engine code was only used in 1965).

686223 = 1965, assembled in May 1965.

The grille is from a 1963, the upper grille panel is from a 1961/64. Both are evidence that this truck was hit in the front end at some point.

mickyy: The whole front end isn't wrong. The front fenders are correct for: 1961/65 F100/250 4WD's, 1966 F250 4WD's & 1961/66 F350's, as they have a 45" opening radius.

1961/65 F100/250 2WD's, 1966 F100 2WD/4WD's & 1966 F250 2WD front fenders have a 36" opening radius. The hood is the same for all 1961/66 F100/1100's.

1959 was the first year Ford offered factory installed 4WD on F100/250's.

Previous years were all conversions, usually done by Marmon-Herrington, or in some cases by NAPCO.

1979 was the first year Ford offered factory installed 4WD in F350's. Previous years were all conversions.

Cab Step: 1961/64 F100/250 2WD/4WD / 1961/66 F350/1100 / 1965 F100/250 4WD / 1966 F250 4WD.

No Cab Step: 1965 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 2WD/4WD / 1966 F250 2WD.

sgettin 12-24-2009 08:35 AM

yep i meant the cab step. all the above info is too much for my brain to digest and remember so i printed all that off for future reference. good stuff when your looking at trucks and parts.

ford0625 12-24-2009 11:05 PM

Yep that sounds right to me. My 65 F100 and 65 F250 neither one have steps.
