! HELP ! PCM Removal Trouble
 

I am trying to remove my PCM to check the code from the truck in my sig ('01 dually) and cannot seem to get it out. I have the connector off (long connector with single bolt in center) and the two 7mm bolts on the plastic housing. The housing and the module will move about 1.5" and stop. Is there anything I am missing to get this out!

You may need to pull it towards the right a little to get it to come out.

Are you talking about the the long bolt with plastic housing under the hood??? I know you have to disconnect the multi pin connection under the hood?? Its been a year since I pulled mine but it was a bugger to get out, manuvered it around a bit until I got it. But wait till others respond first, forget how many bolts there is.

Don't forget to pop out the two plastic push tabs/pins/screws that hold wiring harnesses to the PCM cover under the dash. It does take some maneuvering to get it out.

OK, I just didn't "tug" it enough to he right, had to move a cable that wa in the way as well. I got the code (PMT2) and it's all back together, started up and ran fine. The video I found in the seardh helped as well Diesel Movies - I install a DPTuner F5 chip in my buddies truck. Positions were Stock hi idle 60tow 80econo 120 race 140smoke.

Now it's time to get hold of Tony!

You are lucky. The PMT2 is the preferred PCM for most of the tuners. I had to buy one to replace my early 99 PCM Tony will be happy!

Does any one know if you have to take the clutch petal out of the way in order to get the pcm box out? I have tired to get it out but there is no room to go to the right with it because the clutch is in the way.

No on removal, but keep the metal mount on the pcm and take them out together or you can have someone push clutch in

No clutch pedal removal required. Removal bolt under hood and pull cable connect apart from under hood, remove two screws from plastic cover and the whole thing should slide out backwards. If you unbolt the entire metal frame (two more screws) it is a little harder.

And remember to disconnect both batteries before loosening up the PCM electrical connector.

Not necessary. Just don't fool around with it and the key in the ignition. I have taken my PCM out and put it back many times with the batteries hooked up.
