Who Served, Where and When?

I was US Navy Oct 74 - Oct 80. Crypto Communications Tech. 2 years electronics schools at Great Lakes IL, Pensacola FL, Ft. Devens MA and Mare Island CA. Duty was 3 years on the carrier Forrestal CV-59 (ported in Norfolk VA then Jacksonville FL). Then a year shore duty at Washington DC, where I did TDY to Italy, Spain and West Virginia. Since getting out I've worked in several capacities to support the State Dept, military or DOE.

Thanks to all who served.

Chris... All these years I've known you, I never knew you were in the Navy. That explains a lot. LOL!!! JK dood. JK!!! :D

USMC Swore in 8/16/89. Boot 6/90. Honorable Discharge 1/93. Jacked up knees in Japan and didn't have a choice but to be discharged. I loved the Corps. I would have been a lifer. I'd be collecting my first retirement now at 37.

The Sandia Veterans celebration was pretty good. They had Native American dancers, singing, costumes, food and music. And some good speakers too.

I had my own Native American dancer for 15 months. She's gone now. :( But, it's all good. :D

USMC Nov 86 to Jun 07. Avionics tech ( yep, swinging with the wing). Stationed from South Carolina to California, 2 deployments to Iwakuni, Japan, and 1 West Pac with the 31st MEU. (6 months on a Navy boat was enough)

It was a great time, but I do not regret retiring at all.

Thanks to all our brothers in arms.

I spent a year in Iwakuni. Fell down Mt. Kentai. Spent many weekends up in Hiroshima and at the Mia Jima Tori. Took a few trips further up north and spent time on Mt. Fuji and got to blow **** up. I loved being a Marine. :D

I kept my 67 because it was my Gramps, sold my 77, then got another 77 just for parts. Beer:-partybud always sounds good...got a new job with DOD but should start to be around more.

Sweet. I saw the new 77 you got when I pass by to see if you home. Let me know when a good time for bier is. If you go from your house and take a L on Irving, pass Unser, I'm the 5th house on the right. :D

USMC - or Specwar - is the best job for an Irishman for that very reason.

ME? I was an I-level tron god. I maintained the junk that let us see anything that moved from 180 miles away... The newer AWACS systems let you see across three states, and all of it is color coded on the screen }>

No doubt you can tell what branch and platform I was on by my signature. And oh yeah - me and my buddies made CHAOS possible.
