Need Some Guages....

So the next mod on my list is guages...

What do you have?

Where did you get them?

How do you like them?

How much should I expect to pay?

Get with Clay at Riff Raff performance. He has some very good pricing on Isspro's(which I have had 2 sets of) they are nice. A big plus is they are made in the USA (Washington State I believe).

If you are going with the standard 3 gauge, Pyro, boost and tranny temp somewhere in the $300--$325 range is about right.

ISSPRO's as Jason said. I have the EV2's and love them. LED Backlit is awesome. If you want to go up from there, get the Performax. As was stated, give O' Clayton Bigsby a call at Riffraff, he'll steer you straight. Made in Oregon, USA!

Yup ISSPRO is in Portland, OR

Not to break the ISSPro bubble (they are very good gauges), but I went with Autometer Z-Series (black with white numbers), with seperately purchased Green LED backlights. They usually run $45-$70 each (pyro is a little more) & $10 more for LEDs. Summitracing or ebay or wherever.

I have installed: Voltmeter, Ammeter, Pyrometer, Boost. (pics below)

Installing this weekend: Trans Temp, Oil Temp, H20 Temp, Fuel Pressure, Oil Pressure, Diff Temp.

Overkill, maybe for some. But I love to see that everything is working, it's much better than the dummy light. I went with analog gauges for most of them for realtime feedback (some gauges only come digital).

There are pro's & con's for every maker of gauges. The battle is stupid. Some are definitely made a little better, others are a little cheaper, but they all still do the job, or fit a particular budget. What you like and can afford is the key.

The ISSPro EV2 are similar to the Autometer Z-Series. Cartmanea has a nice setup with the EV2's:

I think my setup is starting off pretty nice, fashioned after/copied from his setup. I am still not done; I am in the middle of the process with two more triple pods to install.

I like my Dipricols. Here is what they look like......

Those are fuel pressure and HPOP gauges. I also have pyro, boost, and trans. temp on the pillar.

jeff7825, Nice setup. I have that triple pod (to be installed shortly) on the right knee with Trans Temp, Oil P (?), Diff Temp. I forgot about the HPOP. What pressure gauge is that for your HPOP (Oil Pressure guage?) and where did you place the sender?

Figurhead, I must say, those gauges installed below you instrument cluster are very nicely done, superb job. TD, I got my complete gauge kit, boost, trans, pyro from Dieselmanor, nice kit and everything you need for the install, directions were right on, good if you never installed gauges before, like most of us before we got them. I also got these before Clay was in business so I would give Clay a shout at Riffraff diesel, he's got great customer service and he's always been there before and after the sale, great fella to deal with.

figurhead, is that the instument bezel mount kit or did you cut them right into the dash??

The HPOP gauge is a specific gauge only for that function since it read up to 4,000psi. I am only aware of Isspro and Dipricol making one at this time.

Your gauge setup looks nice man. To bad you didn't start with the Performax series before you turned it into the Space Shuttle cockpit, LOL. Starting to look like CSIPSD :-drink

I don't know how Dipricol does it, but my Performax HPOP gauge came with a plug-and-play connector for the ICP sensor. The gauge is electronic. To run the Performax gauges you need the ISSPRO ESP (Electronic Signal Processor).

bigb56, I cut the holes with a 2" tile drill bit/hole saw. It melted the plastic bezel perfectly for the 2 1/16 gauges. I just measured the center, marked it and drilled it, using a blade to clean the edges that were melted. The right side is perfect for whatever gauge with nothing behind the bezel but good access to the radio power wires (for keyed gauge power and dimmer power).

The left side has a thicker/lighter colored plastic "framework" behind that I melted perfectly by heating a hack saw blade with a small butane torch, after drilling and removing the bezel. The link above to cartmanea's installation shows it pretty well (he used a dremel to make gauge room).

I chose the Ammeter for the left side since it is the shortest distance to the alternator. It is cool to see it pump out 30-60 amps. At least I know that it is working. I ran 8 gauge cable (75A) which is the same size as the wire coming off the alternator.

RiffRaff, There were too many options and using so many gauges, the Autometers seemed right. I can't second-guess now. Anyway, I'll have to see about the HPOP gauge. That seems like a pretty important one.

Would the HPOP be more important or the same importance as oil pressure, to be monitoring? And where would the oil pressure gauge go to? I'm thinking that Oil Temp will be drilled & welded into the oil pan on my next oil change. Any help?

I just checked out the IISPro Performax and they are very nice. Hadn't checked them out so closely before.

It's a very nice job

If you dont want to spend alot and and want decent gauges go to google "glow shift pro" ive gotten all my gauges there and have never paid over 160 that was for boost 2000f exaust and tranny. it comes with probes and hoses and stuff. mounts real nice.
