Good afternoon Massachusetts...I'm sitting at home with the appliance repairman right now. On Monday I received a recall notice from Maytag that NOW included my fridge. The original recall did not have mine on it. Turns out that an electrical relay to the compressor overheated and BURNED :eek:the wiring to the compressor. The ONLY thing that prevented serious damage...smoke or fire...to my home was the GFCI outlet that the fridge was plugged into. It tripped...cutting off juice to the relay...preventing a fire!!!

The compressor looks to be good...he's rewiring it now...and...then he'll install the upgraded relay and I should be good to go!!!

Now...I have to have conversation with Maytag about the approximately $500 worth of food that I had to throw out. Fortunately...I'm anal and made a list of things...and their prices...as I threw them out!!!
