New fiberglass body parts.
 

I am thinking about ordering EVERYTHING from this place and building a show truck. Has anyone ordered anything from this place before? Anyone used fiberglass replacement parts, any advice?

ive used those one peice fiberglass noses before they are nice for a drag car

for what that stuff costs youd be money ahead building a truck of steel

i mean way ahead

fiberglass is always moving so what ever paint you put on it isnt going to last as long as steel plus you got to take into account all the fitment issues youd have it would never be worth it for a show truck

16 G's would buy many straight and true body components that would be a much better platform than glass.
In the case of a show truck, what would the advantage be?

I am really thinking about buying there box sides. Would be nice not to deal with rust again over the wheels.

Fiberglass has it's own durability issues.

You're gonna spend a ton of time or money, probably both, getting aftermarket fiberglass body panels show quality. Especially on the huge truck panels.

If you really want composites on your truck and you have $16,000 to spend, have a competant shop fab you a select few panels out of carbon fiber. Like the hood and tailgate. Those are alright to be a little off.

The bed sides an a Styleside would be VERY hard to get straight.

Copy that guys I was just enamored with the thought of a rust proof truck, but hadn't considered the disadvantages of glass.

And yes for 16000 I could have a nice all steel no body filler no rust truck.

As far as weight goes, an old friend of mine had an iron headed 351W powered 75? Pinto that had fiberglass replacement panels from stem to stern, bumpers, fenders, hood, doors, decklid and even part of the quarter panels. We were shocked and he wasn't happy after shelling out nearly $2000 in body panels when he took it to the scales and found out it weighed over 3400 lbs!

I thought he would lose a lot in the doors but what do I know.


Those steel panels aren't that heavy because there so thin from being so strong. Glass has to be a LOT thicker to keep strength and shape. You can only get carbon fiber that thin and strong. Even stronger.

Steel is literally and figuratively the backbone of industry. Don't expect any other material to replace its ubiquitousness any time soon. (It's everywhere)

But if your building a show truck it won't see harsh weather. Neither of mine come out when the snow starts.

Same here. You won't have rust issues if not driving in winter salt or mud.

I bought a hood from US bOdy source and it fit like CHIT!! I would NOT put their crap on my truck if it was free

I have US body doors, front and rear fenders. The only reason I bought them is that I got a great deal on ebay for everything ($600). The rear fenders are nice, The front fenders and doors are a pita to get to fit right. US body does offer pretty good customer service though.
