Need to replace blower door actuator. Help

Anyone know how to replace this on a 08? I can get the front bolt out but theres not enough room to get the rear one out. Looks like you must tear the dash appart to get to this stupid thing.

Which side? Your '08 is a Lariat, which I believe has the dual zone EATC, which has two blend doors.

The driver's side is a PITA, and the book shows 5.2 hours labor to replace it. Passenger side only shows 1.4 hours.

Hey Crazy001,

I'm not sure but its closer to the passanger side. Its directly under the Ipod plug in along where the carpet meets the HVAC stuff. Is that any help? And yes i have the dual zone system.

I'm looking at this on my blackberry so kinda hard to see but this drawing looks to be showing in glove box. Mine is the one below and left of the glove box under the center cup holder area. So mine is the driver actuator right?

Crap. The link changed! Here's what I originally posted, for those who may be following this thread:

Would it be this one?

No there must be three of them then. If you look at the last drawing you will see the radio, climate control systems. Then look just to the right of them to find the auxiliary power supply. Then go straight down to the floor board where the carpet stops and meets the HVAC stuff under the dash and there you will find the actuator. This location will be just a few inches from the right side of the pull out cup holders in the center of the dash. Man please tell me that one is easy to get out. That 5.5 hour repair deal is not appealing to me at all.....

By the way thanks for looking into this for me.

Here's the diagram for the driver's side temperature door actuator:

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z.../138491084.gif

Here are the instructions:

Removal and Installation:
Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing.
Remove the floor duct screw.
Remove the floor duct.
Disconnect the LH temperature blend door actuator electrical connector.
Remove the 2 LH temperature blend door actuator screws.
Remove the LH temperature blend door actuator.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

looks like that could be it. How much time for that one? Also, how in the hell do you get to anything to remove that screw. I'll get back under neigth tomorrow to see what I can find. So is there 3 of these actuators then? Thanks again.

I believe that's the 5-hour job.

Not too sure, as I've never done a blend door actuator before. I just pay for the shop manual and post pics :).

Good luck!

i'm not use to looking at drawings but correct me if i'm wrong but that one is upside down. Anyway, if it is upside down then its the correct part for sure. Actually the first screw to remove is the one i was trying to get to the other day. The problem is once its loosened it butts up against the steel floor/body of the truck and can't be loosened further. Not sure how to handle this issue. Also, once i get it out it looks like only God could put it back. I'll try again this weekend. Thanks Crazy for the info.

I know this is an old thread, but this just happened to me, so let the revival begin. My passenger side is running heat while the driver side is pushing A/C like I have it set. Any luck or more info on how you got that screw out? or any other tips on the replacement?

Thanks,
Ryan

How do I obtain a DVD of the shop manual for 2002 SD? I have seen them on eBay but wonder if they are legit.

Wish I found these diagrams sooner...

I took my dash off and replaced the 3 visible actuators on top, apparently non of which were the driver side actuator which is why I was there in the first place.

Now to do it again :-roll

Finally just took mine to ford under warranty. They fixed it perfect and no rattles. Im happy. Did last year just forgot to post the results.
