I don't have a wiring diagram for the column switch. Your best bet is to look in your shop manual......Don't have a shop manual? E-bay has about 5 of them for sale for 53s at the moment.

If this is an aftermarket switch that clamps to the column I have a diagram for the 7 wire variety I'll be happy to post.

If your truck was not originally equiped with signals, you are probably going to have to change out your parking and tail light lamp bulb holders and use a two wire/base grounded type instead of the two wire, wire gounded type. I'm not sure when the "Effies" switched to incorporated (not add on) signals.

Welcome to FTE by the way!

If you don't mind waiting a day or 2, I will scan the one I have and post it.
Without it I would have been lost wiring my 55's signals.

I asked before but maybe you missed it, but is this a stock switch that is built into the hub under the steering wheel, or is it an external switch that is clamped to the steering column?

Go to Mid Fiftys, they have instructions for the stock switch. http://www.midfifty.com/instru.htm

Stock switch? Which one is that?

Since turn signals were an option back then, the problem is...

There were TWO different turn signal switches used on 1953/55 trucks.

Factory installed and dealer installed. They are not the same.

Western Auto, Sears and autoparts stores sold a similar switch as the Ford dealer installed switch, which clamped on the steering column.

1949/59 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog: Illustration Section 130, page 402 shows the factory installed switch for 1953/54 Ford cars. Page 403 = 1955 Ford (not Bird).

These are the same two switches that were factory installed in 1953/55 trucks. Fit inside the steering column.

Use the Mid-Ffity's instructions in the post below. My diagram is about the same , but, is too big to scan on one sheet, needing 2.
