Places to Camp and things to see around Creston, Nelson, Nakusp, Kaslo and Revelstoke
I'm planning a trip with my wife and new baby this fall through From Creston to Revelstoke. The full route can be seen on google maps here: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&sourc...e=UTF8&t=h&z=7
I'm open to side trips and detours. I don't know that area of the province very well, so I'd love some suggestions form things to see, and places to camp. I'll probably be in a rental C-class RV, so something on pavement, or only a short distance on good gravel is preferred. Camp spots can be anything from fully services to primitive. We are used to tenting, so we are very flexible on this. Please let me know your thoughts. Hope the rental is a ford . . . 8D |
Mica dam is pretty cool.It was built in the late 60 early 70s if I am not mistaken. At the old town site you can still see roads and foundations in the lake that the revelstoke dam created. The dam it's self is a massive earth dam, still one of the largest earth dams in the world. There is fuel and limited food unless you hit it at breakfast lunch or supper then there is plenty as it is staffed by BC Hydro.

Don't know much about the area myself, even though we spent some time living in Christina Lake/Grand Forks.
If you camp in Revelstoke a nice campsite is http://www.williamsonlakecampground.com/ Nothing really fancy but a decent spot for a day or two. This will give some more infor on campsites in the areas of your travels. http://www.camping.bc.ca/camping_kootenay_rockies.aspx |
Ended up going a diffferent route, but thanks for the suggestions.
Did an update in another thread, so I'll just link to it here. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ml#post7995947 |
