On the right front of the choke horn are a bunch of numbers. Holley numbers.

I can't tell from the pictures, but those numbers, is there a Ford part number there? Should be DnTE-nnnnn-xx, might start with D9TE (D9 is 1979, since you said in another thread it's a 1979 engine?)

That big diaphragm thing on the right side is the governor.

FIRST though. With fuel in the carb, pump the throttle. Any gas coming from the accelerator pump?

F700 Holley carb D8TE-9610-BZA

I am getting ready for a long road trip and was wanting to get this carb to help. Last time I started it the motor would hardly run. No power and had to keep pumping the gas to keep it running. Couldn't even move it 20 ft. So I need some hep here!

The list # is 8174 but can find no love on the internet to get a line on a kit. Cleaned out the primary bowl and it had some red looking like coating like rust but maybe from the old fuel tank. It's been sitting a while.

Also there is a governor on the starboard side of the carb that don't feel is really needed. Were they put on to keep the novice drivers from over reeving the motor? Can't see a reason to t not take it off. Anyone got an opinion on that?
