Need to know where to find some 53-56 new parts catalogs? What happened to SoCal?
 

Well, I got my new project pulled home yesterday and she's sitting in my backyard now! I've been out of the old Ford scene for 10+ years, but the last time I bought parts, SoCal was still around. I ordered a catalog from Dennis Carpenter last night, but that's the only one I could find. I did several searches for SoCal and came back with nothing each time??? Are they still in business? Are there any other catalogs I can order from or any good websites I can order from as well? Please let me know and thanks! Jason

Looks like everyone from CA that have chimed in...so far...are :-newbie to the hobby (sorry y'all, I couldn't resist!), considering that...

SoCal Pickups and Panels sold out years ago. So did Ford Obsolete in Long Beach, Valley Ford Obsolete in North Hollywood, and F100 Parts Unlimited in San Jose.

Local SoCal obsolete and repro sellers: Bob's F Fun Hundreds is now in Corona, Blue Oval Truck Parts is in Anaheim. The Truck Stop is in the city of Orange, and IMO, the best of all of them is Early Ford Store in San Dimas.

Early Ford Store (earlyfordstore.com) is located in the 1916 building that housed the original Ford Dealership.

This place is a time warp...as it's a combo NOS obsolete, used and repro parts store, showroom for old rolling piles of misery, and a museum.

Many thanks yall! I've been doing some research all morning and found about 5-7 different places, some of them were mentioned above. When I get some free time, I'm going to start taking her apart and start with a ground up resto/rod project. I've done some research and it said it came with a 239 Flathead! Although, I believe it has a 289 in it as of now. I'll have to grab the number this week and check. Also, I hope I can find lots of help on this project in the future? I like both GM and Ford vehicles! I'm more used to working on old Chevys, as the only other old Ford truck I've owned before this one was my 55, almost 10 years ago and it was partially built when I bought it. I'd like to build this one the way I want it. I hope to be here for a long time! Thanks again for the re-welcome! Jason

tacson, don't know if you remember me from about 4 years back. You and I were posting back and forth about a 55 that I'd found in Kansas. Never got that truck, don't remember the reason why. But, I've been searching since 2001 for one and this one seems to have great potential to restore. That's my new find in my avatar! I'll have to figure out how to post some pics in the gallery. I think they get most of their parts from Dennis Carpenter though, but they do have some cool stuff, just not a lot. I cruise down there at least once a month to browse and see things close up. I just made a big order from john's F-Funhundreds (seem to have cheaper prices) and I still need a few parts from MidFifty.

Mid Fifty 's catalog is a gold mine of info and assembly drawings that you'll find very useful, it's more of a cross between a shop manual and parts catalog, it's a must have!
Best part is that it's free, give them a call, it's entirely a lady run operation, and those gals really know their stuff.

Mid-Fity is the way I went, Ordered til I've run out of cool parts to get. Good info and decent parts, the ladies treat you right,love their tootsie rolls when puttin my parts on too!

Frank and his staff (Dave and Brian) are very knowledgeable about trucks. When I was there for their August Second Saturday event, Dave told me they are making up a new truck parts catalog. Frank stocks lots of parts and can get parts from most anybody, quickly.
