Been out of action for a bit, glad to see that we have some interest in the chapter and it is cool to see how we all came to be here in SC and visitors like Jr.

Jay, the property you have in TR is it off of old 25? If so you are but 10min from me in Dacusville.

Enjoy the day gents

FLgargoyle 08-06-2009 05:00 PM

Marc- My place is off Mush Creek Rd- about 2 miles from the jct of 25 and Locust Hill Rd. I'm about a mile from Tigerville (such as it is). My next trip up will be the first week of November- I'll put the word out well in advance- maybe we can have an impromptu G2G.

tin-man 08-06-2009 08:35 PM

I think we have enough around here to have an impromptu G2G, let us know when you're close Jay!!

nutfarmii 08-07-2009 08:48 AM

Definitely, you are 15min from me the way I drive and about 20 the way my wife drives:-missingt

Looking forward to it.

I have a friend thats probably not too far from you. He lives off of Mush creek/Bosley Cir close to Locust hill.

Been to that BBQ joint up on 25 (right above Locust hill)?

FLgargoyle 08-22-2009 06:31 AM

No- I haven't. I'm lookin' for a good place, though. I'm an expert griller/smoker myself, but sometimes I get lazy and just want to buy some. We're going to stay at Valley Park Resort, an RV campground just up 25 a couple miles from Locust Hill Rd. They have little rental log cabins. We stayed there last trip, and really enjoyed it. The cabins at Table Rock are even better, but a long drive to anywhere. I'm not sure what we're going to do on this trip- I thought about building a shed on the property to use as a camp, but I'm not sure if I can get it dried in in a week, and I don't want something half-built sitting there. A couple rainy days, and I'd be toast. I can't prefab it, because there's no way to get building supplies to the site other than hand carry. Plans are to put some posts in the ground, build a deck, tilt the walls up, and put a roof on it. I've built them before, but always near all my woodworking stuff. I guess I could build the deck (from pressure treated lumber and plywood) and see how much time I have left.

nutfarmii 08-31-2009 01:34 PM

When you get closer in to the time your up Jay, PM me will see if I am free that weekend or two and help you out with my two sons.

FLgargoyle 08-31-2009 02:42 PM

Thanks, Marc- sounds like fun! I'll definitely take you up on that. I recently picked up a Honda generator, a wheelbarrow-type compressor, and a big Stihl chainsaw, so I'm almost ready to do damage. I have a friend nearby with a post hole digger on his tractor. If I can get him to come up, the posts will go in quick. Reservations have been made for Oct. 30 through Nov. 6.

tin-man 08-31-2009 02:58 PM

Jay give me a call( 706) 573-1833 when you get here and I will see what I can do. I can't do alot, but I am still full of ADVICE!! }>

FLgargoyle 08-31-2009 03:37 PM

Sounds like a G2G to me- I'll provide the food (if y'all eat take-out). Or someone can bring a grill. We can make plans when it gets closer.

That's what trucks are for, I have been known to throw the grill on the back with a cooler or two and tables:-X0A6

So far nothing on the Calendar for those weekends.
But need to check with the boss(wife) as she populates the calendar and I usually find out later I was suppossed to be somewhere else.
